Assassin's Creed Valhalla

55 hours played now, I reckon I am at about the halfway point (assuming that max power is 340 and I am on 172). Done 5 areas of England but thats all

Havent been to Asgard or Vinland yet, though both are open to me

Hi All.

What FPS like on a 4K res using the likes of a RTX 3080 and AMD 5900x or 5950X ?

Just curious as I've read the game is poorly optimised

Tweak some settings and should get 60 FPS. with a 3090 made some tweaks to few settings for minimal visual change / impact and get around 80 or so FPS at 4k and going up in less dense areas.

Nearly 40 hours in and just finished Cent off, enjoying it so far rather than trying to collect everything on a map I've been doing the quests more and getting the odd bit if I'm close to it.

Lost a few hours progress yesterday as I got the bug where your weapon disappears from your hand / inventory if you have the shift+t switch weapon enabled and spam your torch (didn't know about this till I looked yesterday for a fix) you either unlearn the skill or have to remap your torch to another button.

Just done my 2nd legendary animal. The fights are good but rewards are a bit meh.

I reslly like that all activities give you some kind of tangible reward but they could have been a bit more imaginitive and tied it to a new piece of gear for example

I'm not gonna go on about it as I know I'm in a minority but has anyone actually played Black Flag recently? It is a terrible game. Imo it's the worst AC game except maybe 3(not much in it tbh) . The story is nonsensical even by AC standards and, the gameplay is the height of Ubisoft's poor design(forced unfailable stealth and forced failstates all over the place, awful chase missions, the worst ui and overly cluttered map of the series). After Black Flag and the first Watch Dogs you can see a clear effort to improve the gameplay of their open world games. it had a good setting that was fun, and the sea combat and exploration was excellent. Everything else I found a chore and poorly done. Anyone remember the stealth section on the ship? My God!

Starting to get a bit bored of the game, though I have been playing it daily.

Warning: big story spoiler
Just saved Sigurd and have a few more regions to pledge to

Definitely won't be going for 100% though I'm keen to complete the Order and other optional fights at some point.

Damn, walked into some cave, some dude whooped my ass. Best come back later I think. :)

Think that might be the cave of one of Ragnar's lost drengr. There's 3 of them, one in Norway and 2 in England. All tough customers but if you do get around to defeating the Norway one he has a really sweet spear as loot. Well worth fighting him just for that. Though I advise timing your blocks well and a quick follow up strike then back off fast. Nibble him down bit by bit and even outlevelled you should be able to do him.

Started playing this the other day and still in Norway. Have a few questions.

Is there any Fabric in Norway to be found, or that wont be available until England ?

Carbon Ingots, have found 4 so far, are there more in Norway ? Still have plenty to explore, but wondering what to upgrade next. So far used one to upgrade the Raven Chest Armour, so with three left, can either upgrade the Bow, or use one each on the other 3 Armour pieces, but since not sure how much Carbon Ingots there is in Norway, I don't want to do one and then not find enough for the others.

And finally, all the Restricted Areas/Settlements, they are all enemies of the Raven Clan, right ? And do they respawn, like they did in Origin/Odyssey ? I hope they don't, found that a bit tedious to be honest.

Actually, one more thing. The level 240 (or so) area, did you do that area as well before leaving Norway, or did you leave that until later ?

About 14h in so far and definitely liking the streamlined world and story structure, seems more focused with way less copy&paste. You can still feel the tired formula a bit though but what can you do, it's at least toned down and more varied. And Norway is the best starting area in the series because it's so much different from the main bulk of the game.

My biggest gripe so far is that they really dropped the ball on weapons and armour. They went from ridiculous amount of loot from Odyssey, where you were getting new armour pieces every 5 mins, to only having a couple of weapons and armour sets in the entire game. I like the approach but surely there must've been a middle ground they could've taken here? I really wanted a longsword-axe combo but there isn't a single longsword in the game.

I'm sure they'll add more via DLC though and I think it'll be mostly free like in previous games so hoping for that. I don't yet feel the lack of weapons bu I looked for best early, mid and endgame weapons and was surprised that's all there was:p

Yeah it was, I was barely out of the intro when I went wandering. :p Going back in a bit.

That's how I bumped into him as well :D Thought I could take him, took a good beating a couple of times so went off and scoured Noraway for everything I could find then went back for him before heading to England. He's not so bad when you let him do most of the attacking and you just parry, sidestep, strike and retreat. Only have to watch out for his big jumping lunge and his 5 dagger throws and just whittle him down. The other two Drengr's in England can be tough too but not as much as the 1st guy while you are so underpowered. If you put points in the Raven skill tree a must have is Brush with death that allows time to slow when you dodge, invaluble against some of the tougher enemies in the game so grab that asap.
