Assassin's Creed Valhalla

All about opinions innit:p... I don't know how anyone can play Black Flag and Syndicate and think Black Flag is a better game. It is by far the worst AC game imo. It introduced ship combat to the series(pretty much, you had some bits in 3). Other than that it does almost everything else worse than every other AC game. It is the height of Ubisoft open world bloat with no imagination in the gameplay at all. It's no coincidence that Ubisoft went back to the drawing board and rewrote almost every system in the game for Unity.

Is it nostalgia? Has anyone replayed Black Flag recently? I tried and it is so bad I got about half hour in and gave up after my first game over screen for straying 2 feet away from the path Ubisoft wanted to force me in to!

Agreed. Though I think AC3 was one of the worst as it was like a gut punch exploring huge buildings in ancient Rome just to climb some tree's in ac3. I tried Black Flag and just couldn't get into it. Don't think I made it past 4 hours.

Came back for Unity and it was decent and then Syndicate which got me back in love with the series.

AC3 and AC: BF can both get chucked into a bin for all I care.

There is Ezio, Altair and Kassandra. Everyone else are has beens

Unrelated note. Anyone playing with a Series X controller? It disconnects for fun in this game

Never finished the final Odyssey DLC. Think I'd had enough by that point by burn out but enjoyed it more than Origins because of the better more focused RPG resource allocation stuff going on.

The Skill Up review was devastating though but looking around other reviews, blogs I've taken the plunge. 103 hours Origins (incl DLC), 140 hours Odyssey (incl DLC), I can see me hitting 160 easy on this game.

I think Skill Up has lost the plot a bit recently - seems to be going into reviews now already having decided whether he is going to like the game or not and then trying to maker things fit his point of view- also, like many reviewers, he seems to dislike long games presumably for the obvious reason it stops them getting their review out quick and they actually have to work at it.

He's the best reviewer around as far as I'm concerned but he doesn't have much patience for the AC series and has always been to hard on it. But then I think most people are tbh

I mostly watch Jim Sterling, have done for years but guess I lost track of what an actual review channel is like (Jim is mostly news, activism & opinion pieces now, which is fine), so found Up Skill to be quite fresh.

I must have a soft spot because I had this excited feeling again, like you know what you're in for with the newer AC games (if they can be called that still), I only ever played AC1 (meh), Black Flag (never finished it after beating all the pirate bosses, anything not on ship I wasn't that bothered about).

So I put 80 hours into this and enjoyed it overall. Preferred Origins and Odyssey but thats probably because the world and environment are much more interesting. Its a very long game which I don't mind, but the ending felt really abrupt to me, bit of a letdown on that front.

Oh and the fact items you can't collect until you've finished the game show up straight away without any form of differentiation from those you're supposed to be able to get. That drove me mad a few times.

well this is interesting. i did one of the contracts to kill a predator so i shot it with an arrow and it's slid down the little hill into a rock lol. cant confirm the kill.

I have gone with 4 save files that I rotate through regularly just in case a quest breaks. funnily enough I havent had any yet but the forums seem full of them.

I watched a tube video of epic fails, a couple of clips had me in tears.

Does anyone else when finishing a session get the upload save to their server errors/fails?

I get it a lot and put it down to their system, unless its just my internet connection?

Never had it bug out on me, you could check your AV / Firewall, I have rules to allow Valhalla (acalhalla.exe & acvalhalla_plus.exe) and Ubisoft (upc.exe) through.

Thanks, its good to get feedback from others as judging by the game issues online its hard to tell if its their system or not. I still not sure why it needs an internet connection to play the game - although its becoming the new norm. it should not need it to fire up and play your own copy..

Been playing through this, one thing is really starting to annoy me... Their hold back on loot. I've got 30 hours in now and barely any armour... It's really restrictive with the builds you can do as a result.
