Assetto Corsa OcUK TT Challenge! *Season 3*

Sort of maddening how I can see the server and it tells me it contains unavailable content, but it doesn't say which DLC package I need. Can anyone enlighten?

In it's current state (the weekly challenge usually changes every Monday but hasn't as of yet) the server only requires you to have the base game to play plus the RedBull X2010 which can be downloaded from here.

As long as you have that then you should be good to go providing you have installed the RedBull X2010 corrently.

Good lord this game is difficult, but amazing. Trying to get the F40 through eau rouge at a decent speed using my xbox 360 controller is like trying to ride a greased rodeo bull whose nads have just been pronged with a pitchfork. Not felt anything near that exhilarating from a game before though.

The Lotus and red bull in comparison were like using a laser pointer to guide my path. Going to need a lot more practice, fun though.

I got a few laps in and was quite enjoying getting used to the F40. I just need to be more committed and not scrub off as much speed before corners and get on the power a bit earlier. I would have liked to have gotten some better laps in in the Porsche too but simply didn't have time and I was driving better in the F40. At least I wasn't bottom of the pile in the F40 this time round :D That said 5 seconds off the fastest lap doesn't make me feel great either!

Out of interest, those who were playing in the F40, did you drop to 1st gear for the chicane and 1st corner? I tried a few times but it's hit or miss so I used 2nd but ohhhh the turbo lag :(

I find it harder to gauge when the wheels are spinning in first than I do finding the sweet spot for braking so accelerating in 1st doesn't usually end up well for me :D Like you say I wasted a few laps when I attempted to use 1st. I'm pretty sure it'd be faster than using 2nd gear though due to the amount of turbo lag present.

Apologies, but I haven't had time sort the new server out today. I'm not around tonight, so it'll have to be tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'm happy to take requests since I don't have time to put a lot of thought into this one.
Fire away and I'll do a pick n mix :)

Can we try and avoid having cars that are *too* different in speed, certainly around corners. Brands was really tricky a while back, it can make it real tiresome trying to lap at the same time, although - don't think I saw another person on the server this last week at Spa! Not that I have the time this moment to think of a nice full set of cars that don't potentially all clash at speed right now :p

Tatuus was quite interesting last time I drove it, would give that a shot. Plenty of downforce but not so super fast that you are on a knife edge all the time.

KTM X-Bow? That's good fun and also stock too. Or if we are doing some DLC perhaps the new GT86?

Then again being the one who likes hard to drive cars... Cobra? :D

I hear you, but the point is to have a varied selection, so that there's hopefully something for everyone.
We don't have to have a warp speed car every week, but it's better to have a bit of everything rather than a bunch of stuff that's all roughly the same that only appeals to a narrower set of tastes.

In case any of you don't have this installed, I'd recommend it.
It'll help you to see where everyone else is, whether they're on track or in the pit and makes it easier to judge when to exit the pitlane and/or when you're likely to encounter another car.

Oh I'm all for varied in character, was more down to overall lap time. Take say the F40 and the Taatus, imagine they're relatively close in laptime on your average track, with the F40 lack of cornering grip balancing out to its extra straight line speed, so not going to be passing each other on track constantly. Thinking back to brands, driving the escorts when F1 cars were about was a pain in the ass, I was getting lapped twice a lap by the same guy :P huge closing speeds make it frustrating for both.
It's the "warp speed" cars that are the problem, maybe keep them alongside really fast modern super cars. Then slow/classic cars with nothing faster than GT cars just to minimise that contrast whilst still having lots of variation?

Had a quick blast last night after finally getting my PC back up and running.

I've not spent much time with AC, even though I've had it since it was in Steam early access. But I haven't renewed my iRacing subscription so far this year so I might give this TT more time.
