Assetto Corsa

There are still a few niggles around that I've noticed, nothing major. Think the low speed physics are still a bit flakey at times. When driving I'm already pretty damn happy - wish I could just get the G25 settings nailed and the game to stop forgetting the setup....

Downloaded the AC Cobra just now and some other tracks to try. Know what I'll be doing after work tomorrow!

ay the low speed ffb and just around the center point needs fiddling (could just be my settings though?) as it seems very light.

also low speed physics.... yep! was on snoopys nurburgring lastnight in some lotus and after having a bit of a bump I slowly rolled into the tyre wall (less than 20mph), hit it pretty much head on and the car jumped up about 5-8ft off the ground, did a half barrel roll and then came straight back down on its roof xD

also watched some vids of people playing this with the occulus rift.... OH MY SWEET BABY JEEBUS!!!! looks fantastic!!! even with the devkit1 with its meh resolution it still looked alright when they showed the occulus' screens. can't wait for the finished product to come out!!!

Yeh the occulus is going to be so good. Had a load of mates just order DK2s, but I'm going to hold out for a more final product once I've seen solid confirmation that it's well implemented into AC (plus any other games I might want to play)

Having the track rubber in and grip levels change is going to be interesting, hopefully it won't make it too tricky trying to judge, it's already bad enough guessing the amount of grip you might have having just run off the track without getting the same issue whilst on it!

It's barely playable on DK1 'cause you can only see about ten feet in front of you, lol. But at the start when you look around the car it is unreal. Can't wait to get playing this on a release-spec Oculus

How does the Rift cope with sense of speed and what kinda FOV do people run on it. Tripples for me give a huge advantage by giving you a near 180 degree perspective. I imagine the rift to have a really low FOV or am i missing something here. I haven't used it on a racing game yet so cant comment.

I would imagine the ability to just glance side to side / look to apex makes most of that advantage disappear. Surely the base rift fov has to be pretty closish to standard screen fov?

That's what I'm asking as a standard screen to get a realistic FOV I'm down to 40 where as a human set of eyes as much closer to 180 and that's why when you drive down a country lane at 60-80 mph it feels like your going much faster, compared to 70mph on a motorway, the scenery blurrying past makes things feel fast.

I'm not sure when using the rift if you set the field of view to somthing like 40 or like tripples something much higher.

Looking left and right with a button is fine for me. It's the lack of speed you feel with such a low fov.

Hope I've explained myself correctly I'm struggling to put what I mean into words.

40 degrees seems way too low for me for a normal screen. I'd say the fov to make it feel realistic on a screen is as much down to the size as the actual fov (imo)
The rift should be able to do 90 degrees according to what I've seen, that sounds about right to me and it definitely seemed to be around that when I tried the DK2 earlier in the year.

The latest update seems to have fixed the xbox one pad issue seems to be working great now:D hopefully they will make the game compatible with the rumble triggers at some point in the future too:)

If you guys where upgrading from your G27 wheel... what would you go for..

I guess the upgrade options are pretty much only the Thrustmaster T500 Or the fanatic wheel base + wheel combo?

Are these worth the upgrade?

Wheel Wise I'd go TX over the T500 myself, with fanatec pedals. I wouldnt have a fanatec wheel unless it was free and would only have the pedals as there no comopotition to there load cell 3 pedal sets.

I just loaded this up but I can't play it as the framerate is unplayable (average 10 fps). I haven't changed any settings from I last played it, which was earlier in the week.

Don't go for Fanatec wheels as they are notorious for reliability problems and putting cheaper motors in. Especially if you like drifting, as it almost guaranteed to burn out fanatecs. T500/TX have faster FFB as well, they are about as fast as steering rack of this real tuned SYlvia (at 1:03) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8wnWmlULTo If you prefer form over function, then its definitely fanatec as thrustmaster wheels skimped on alcantara etc, all money went on engineering it seems:) Fanatec pedals are excellent in every way though.
