Assetto Corsa

Getting itchy waiting for Project Cars on PS4 with the constant delays, I'm soooooo tempted to download this on Steam to play in the meantime.

Really need a decent racing game and don't "want" to keep going back to GT6 (on PS3).

I dont mean tracks and cars but things that make a sim a sim. The list of commands you can map to keys/buttons is woeful, no pit limiter/neutral/ignition/starter etc I despise the ctrl+keys for everything, ridiculous. You cant even stall the car properly because it magically restarts when you hit the throttle. No flag rules, awful AI that doesn't attack or defend, bare-bones multiplayer with no admin tools, no useful info or filters for the lobby browser . . . list goes on.

I have to agree with most of that.

As good as the FFB, physics, sound and graphics are, there's not an awful lot of actual useable or playable product. Unless you are happy with hot lapping most of the time.

Agreed

Tablet launcher as shown over a couple of years ago
Low ffb amplification
3D fixes for mirrors and sky
Better support for pad users to navigate through the menus and UI
More customization for button remapping
Additional customization for mapping apps to buttons so that Voice attack users can also benefit from easy access to common interfaces
Better career mode
Performance optimizations- I've been running on static just to have reasonable fps
SLI/Crossfire optimizations

The game is far from ready even if the content and mod support is good.

I doubt you'll be dissapointed, especially given how bad pcars is and how good ac is.

Definitely worth buying if you like racing games. It's the first "racing sim" I've played. Having only ever played fps games on my pc, and kept racing to forza on my Xbox.

Picked up a t500 wheel and this game has been so much fun and really rewarding.

Been starting to get more into this, i've learnt not to take this as I would Forza or GT5/6 I usually fly into the corner and brake hard.

You literally have to take it really smooth or your off or facing the other way, Still annoying me how sensitive the steering is with the 360 controller even with my attempts to turn it down, so when you find yourself in a slide even the slightest movement to fix yourself always results in to much opposite lock.

But enjoying it, need more cars :P

There's a pretty decent controller setup on race department:

I'm using a tweaked version of this and it's much more usable.

Speaking of controller setups, Im using the stock settings for a G27 in the game controller settings. Have the dev team changed these defaults to match that of the recommended community settings?

Online racing can be so dire in this. Earlier I went from P18 to P1 in the opening three laps without having to do a single overtake, everyone just crashed, span or threw themselves off the track.

Yes, some of the online races can be carnage. The benefit of Steam is that the game has probably sold well, but the down side to that is that we have everybody and anybody playing. There are websites like Race2Play that organise racing where the level is a lot higher and people are generally cleaner in their racing.

I've not tried online yet, might give it a bash this weekend.

I did show this to a few Xbox gamers last night and they were mega impressed... so they want PCs building now lol
