Assetto Corsa

Hope it's downloaded by 9pm tonight so I can have a good session.

Not holding out much hope though as that means no server issues and a good speed (I get 500kb/s max)

I'm hoping that as AC isn't as mainstream as some games the servers should be OK... Fingers crossed. Not sure what I'm going to do first, check out some new cars or straight onto the ring in an F40...

By the way, does anyone else get any stutter in corners when hotlapping?

I game at 1080 max detail (but not everything like shadows) and my performance is normally butter smooth apart from the occasional corner (only race at spa currently).

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

smoke effects currently kill frame rates even if you can't see it on screen. You are probably locking up your brakes

They said that will be fixed in today's patch

....and that is what I am looking forward to and testing.

24 AI used to kill my frame rates and it was a slide show at the start when they produced tyre smoke or went of the curb picking up dust, so today's patch had better deliver the goods.

If it does then the wheel will come back out and I will most likely be buying protosimtech's pedal set too. :p

I'm so out of the loop with this game, only just realised there's a dlc pack coming out today, so just pre purchased it, had £5 in my steam wallet so not bad.

Have they fixed the sensitivity with the controller yet? I haven't played in a while and the sensitivity on the steering was quite quick and always resulted in me just losing it if trying to cure oversteer as it would just snap back in the opposite direction

I'm unfortunate to not own a steering wheel so, yea.

I get that on a wheel if I'm pushing hard. Very easy to over do the correction, with the lack of driver assist it can be brutal. Especially in the F40 in my experience!

Has anyone swapped their g27 brake pedal spring for a progressive one, specifically Nixim?

I'm finding it an absolute nause judging how much brake to use as I can't feel it (obviously), I think ABS has spoiled be but I wonder if a swap out of the spring would be beneficial.

I put a GTEye spring mod in my G27 brake pedal because a lot of the rubber block mods seem to perish over time.

Its a big improvement on the standard spring; feels firmer and is progressive but its not perfect since the brake still works off position not pressure.

Yea it's never going to be perfect but I just want something a little more manageable, for £20 I think its probably worth a punt!

I posted this short replay a while back on the official forum about how bad the online racing can be. Went from P18 to P4 in half a lap simply because everyone was tripping over themselves. Even the leading three cars later crashed off but I couldn't edit out the 4 laps inbetween.

I wont be going online to try the Nordschleife tonight, any small incident creates a road block on such a narrow track.

Online racing in public servers is mostly rubbish apart from iRacing. Even that can be terrible, but it's the best choice if your not in a private league or a password protected server.

What settings are you guys using for the G27? Something feels a little iffy about the ones that I have from a couple of updates ago!

Mine:

I've read that since "minimum force" was introduced it messed up some people's settings. It needs to be around 9 for g27 I am informed:)

I had that even with the g27 in the beginning, and it took me a long time to cure the constant snapback oversteer. The key is not just the wheel, but the gas pedal too. Snapback happens when you put the opposite lock and then RELEASE the gas - this shifts the weight of the car to the front tires, they grip - and voila... So, be careful with the throttle, keep the back wheels loaded with weight of the car while you sort out the front countersteer. Hope that made sense :)
