Assetto Corsa

Woo benchmark mode!

Check out the difference between reflection rendering frequency static and ultra (1440p native - Everything maxed):

Really not worth the FPS hit for very little visual difference, unless you're the type that tries really hard to see it. Good for photo mode though.
I think the minimums are just a benchmark bug tbh.

I really think they ought to start on night + rain, I imagine night would take less work so maybe one or the other, but would add quite a lot of immersion to races! :D

Benchmark mode looks good :)

Pretty sure that would require an engine overhaul/replacement or something. Would be sweet though :)
Personally, I'm not bothered about rain. Day/night transitions are where it's at.

I would prefer night also, rain would be cool also but would just p*** me off after a while I think

A random comparison - night in ETS 2 > rain

I'm perfectly happy without night or rain.

Rain especially, I'm usually not a big fan of rain in racing sims. It's just never handled well. Reduce grip levels by some flat, meager amount and that's about it. The rest is just visual/atmospheric. Like in Project Cars, I can still run within seconds of my dry times even in the wet, once I learn where the limits are. It's a bit ridiculous. I should be sliding the hell off the road driving like I'm able to.

At least Forza 6 seems to have added some nifty puddles, but that's still not enough.

Dry racing is where it's at anyways.

YEah, rain is only fun if you have the full visuals (like pCars), BUT with proper dynamic drying line, aquaplaning and dynamic weather. Tyres skipping between dry and wet patches of tarmac is where its at, simple change of the friction coefficient like in all (?) current games is boring.

Kunos's prev title, Nkpro probably still holds the title for the best rain physics with aquaplaning and all, but it still missed the dry patches, tarmac was wet everywhere. RF2 has the dynamic drying line, but no puddles and no bumpy laserscanned tracks.

Night racing is something I can never get the appeal of- visibility's poor, you race in a permanent dark tunnel and miss all the scenery, replays are awful to look at ...

Hi, anyone know if there is an in-game or .ini file setting for centre spring? Just taken delivery of my OSW wheel and its making it go crazy. Thanks.

Maybe this will help?

Turn on the gyro in Assettocorsa\system\cfg assetto_corsa.ini.

Yes, this 1.3.3 update, differently from the previous 1.3.1 and 1.3.2, restored to 0 the gyro setting in that file.
I had same impression with my Bodnar at the first try after updating, but as soon as I set enable_gyro=1 everything was again OK.

2x 780 GTX, 4930K, latest drivers, Win10x64

This was with my normal settings which are:
triple screen (multiview) rendering on
max/ultra - AA/AF/world detail/shadow quality/mirror res+reflections/reflection rendering frequency
medium reflection quality
Low smoke effects + show smoke in mirrors
Post processing effects on/quality normal/glare normal/crepuscular rays on/DoF off/heat haze off/driver wheel and hands off

Tried a run with multiview rendering off and surprisingly it didn't give me much extra framerate. This must well optimized by KS. Knocking reflection rendering frequency down to medium gave me +10%, turning it off altogether a little more but it looks lifeless at that setting. When you have it on ultra and you are right up behind the Evora and you see the track being reflected perfectly in the side of the car :D It did try one run with every setting I could at max, avg 34 fps.

Not sure if any of you noticed, but I found this to be pretty neat:

Really enjoying it with the Xbox Elite controller - The paddles make a world of difference compared to pressing A and X with my thumb.

OT, but @stephenb - You can turn the chromatic aberation in the settings if you dislike it. (The blue/green/red lines going along everything)

Edit: My difference between Ultra and Static reflection rendering, and tbh, I didn't notice any visual difference either - Although, that being said, as long as it's >60 FPS (which it is, normally), I don't mind and I'd rather keep it on:

Did not think the xbox one elite controller was out yet, how much are the yin the UK ?

I know that feeling. I've played maybe 2 hours of AC in the last 3-4 months. Really wish I had the room to leave my G25 setup permanently with a proper seat. Hopefully when I get my own place! :D
