Assetto Corsa

i am so bad at this game its unreal, when i'm not fighting my g27 it feels like the cars just insta spin out or refuse to corner, really dont know where I'm going wrong :(

yup tried loads of different ones, think its just me being awful

Just dont rush to high powered race monsters, take your time with FWD Fiat500 and Alfa Guliettas, the oldie stock RWD BMW e30 M3... Then, once you've learnt about things like lift-off oversteer (the rate at which you release the gas/brake pedal while turning influences your turning in, all the way from doing nothing to spinning out), tapping brakes not to slow down but to make front wheels grip briefly so as to change direction etc etc -then move on to M3 E92, mid engined Elise/Exige/Evora, super cars. THEN try the race cars. (I personally have never moved on to the race cars, just dont like them)

I'm just saying don't try to run before you can walk and that Fiat500 is great fun on street tires around the Nordschleife when driven on the limit :)

My first proper attempt at AC was using the McLaren MP4-12C GT3, that thing absolutely sticks so it made me get to grips with the handling model very easily - I'm not a huge fan of the P1/LaFerrari type cars as I've previously said, just far too hard to drive.

Personal achievement a little bit, although this is probably like 3 minutes off the pace knowing me:

first time iv played this in a while. Just bought the dream pack 2 and trying out some of the new cars but I have some weird issue. As soon as I started and hit the accelerator or switch gears it exits back to the in game menu...
It just stops lol and puts me straight back into the menu. Seems to be with only some cars though. Not quite sure what that's all about.

Anyone had the same issue?

Right, matson.

I've tried 2 Lamborghini's, 2 Ferrari's, Ford GT40, Nissan Skyline and a Nissan Silvia. All with manual and semi automatic on 7 different tracks old and new. Not one crash or hiccup.

Try verifiying your files.

@Matson, all cars ok for me. I was initially having some random crashes (before stating a session) and weird frame drops on the Barcelona track so I switched to the 32bit version. Crashes and frame drops are gone. You could try forcing 32bit in the settings?

One fix I saw, however I'm not too sure if it'll work:

Thanks for your answer. I just found out what it was. I had some old d3d9 and d3d11.dlls in the AC folder. They were not removed when I verified the cache. I manually deleted them, and then the game worked again.

And also this which was posted by Kunos staff:

There's also a lot of posts about people trying to use a DX10 card on AC, which causes the launcher to crash - You have a DX11 compatible card right?

Laferrari is relatively easy to drive compared to cobra, ruf etc

I love driving the Cobra in all honesty, I think my problem with LaFerrari is because I think anything that fast has a lot of downforce... Which it doesn't :p

Oh it does, its very comparable to Mclaren P1 which in turn has 5 times (five!) more downforce than the recent Mclaren MP4-12c. THe downforce is provided by those F1 type diffusers under the car, not the old fashioned wings which did not change much since the days of the F40.

This makes me think it's a more fundamental problem. What game mode are you trying to use them on? Not Time Attack I hope?

A lot of tracks don't work on Time Attack, or Time Trial and simply won't appear there. Hotlap is where they will definitely work.

Edit: For reference, it should look like this (although you should have way less tracks, cause I have a different version of Lake Louise):

You were right, I had a very fundamental problem.
Somehow my PC had two assetto corsa folders. One 'live' one on my secondary SSD and a 'dud' on my C drive (I have two steam libraries due to smallish SSD's). I was dropping the mods into the dud folder.
I only found out because I couldn't find the acs.exe to point CCC at.

1.3.4 update is live.

1.3.4
- Replay in x64 are now capped at 1Gb instead of 500mb
- Fixed turbo in form gears
- Physics multithread is now disable with less than 4 cores
- Fixed backfire animation on Lamborghini Countach
- acServerManager: admin password is mandatory
- acServerManager: fixed uploader not saving surfaces.ini of multi-layout tracks
- Fixed Lamborghini Countach S1 UI for customers who do not own DLC2
- Fixed Alfa Romeo 4c peak slip angle value on rear street tyres.
- Fine tuning of tyre heating model for GT2 and GT3 cars. Tyres now might need 2 laps to heat up the core temperatures. Core temperatures are now much more stable during a lap and cool down slower.
- New power loss calculation for GT2 GT3 cars engines
- Corrected rolling resistance calculations for GT2 and GT3 cars tyres
- BMW M3 E30 Drift and M3 E92 drift has new tyre heat calculation following the GT2/GT3 logic. Experimental.
- Balancing of GT3 car performances. The balance does not make all cars equal, but just brings their performances closer. Leagues can now add a small amount of ballast to equalize the cars performances even more.
- Fixed dirt texture and headights in Ferrari 458 Italia
- Fixed headlights indicator on BMW Z4 GT3
- Fixed transparency issue on Ruf Yellowbird
- Added leds to Mercedes SLS GT3
- Fixed TrackIR support for x64
- Added Force Feedback Controller app
- Fixed acServer corruption of internal buffers leading to packet losses
- Added benchmark mode
- Realtime app now uses magenta to signal fastest lap in the session
- New "camera facing" spectators are now controlled by the "world detail" settings. Allowing users with older machines to achieve better FPS
- Minor AI race craft tweaks (a bit faster to change lane but bit less "punchybumpy")
- Remapped some functions associated with numpad "+" and "-"
+/- = Change Force Feedback (disabled in replays)
Ctrl +/- = Change onboard FOV
Ctrl Shift +/- = Change saturation
