Assetto Corsa

LOL It's not at all dead. We just don't spend a lot of time chatting on there.
Numbers have dropped a little to be fair though.

If you're interested, sign up and join us for round 2 of the Blancpain series next week at Brands hatch and see how you like it :)
We also have a historic F1 mini series in the Lotus 72D coming shortly.

If there are any casual one-off's that you'd like to do, feel free to post your suggestion.

Sweet, thanks :) 8pm on Saturdays may be difficult though.

I like iRacing's format of having races every hour. I'm trying to find something like that so that a friend and I can just hop on whenever we have some spare time.

SimRacing.org.uk are running some ad.hoc. races on Wednesdays evenings. The intention is to alternate these with a championship some time in the near future. I believe Core Racing do a Sunday league.

Thanks guys but those forums also look a bit dead.

Think I'll just stump up the €10 that Race Department want. It looks to be the most popular, and the fee will filter out most of the 'tards.

If by 'dead', you mean that there aren't tons of users and races going on at all times, then it's gonna be hard to get that outside of non-organised stuff like random public lobbies.

I guess after witnessing iRacing over the weekend, my expectations quite high.

I can run my own dedicated server very easily, but it's difficult to get the right calibre of people. I think I'm prepared to pay Race Department to do the legwork for me :)

Well, iRacing is a subscription based service as you know. It's not really comparable :)
It is a big reason for people to choose iRacing though.

Personally, a lot of the people on RD are way too anal and highly strung for my liking, but it seems like a good option if you want highly populated organised racing.

There is no other option other than iRacing if you want regimented, jump-in, jump-out online multiplayer.

I'm under no illusion that I will eventually have to give into iRacing's subscription model.

At the moment I'm still getting to grips with Sim Racing, so Assetto Corsa is the perfect platform for me to practice on. It's time to push my skills though, hence my desire to find some good servers to race on.

If enough people here are interested, I can setup a server at work to play on. We have TeamSpeak too which makes it a bit more interesting :)

SimRacing.org.uk is going through a little bit of a transition at the moment moving on from GTR2 to try the brave new world of AC and RRE. This Wednesday's AC race is the Lotus 72D at Brands Hatch If you do race please register on the forum first to get the race password and so you can be included in the results. The standard of racing covers a range of abilities and we've not really had problems of inconsiderate / dangerous drivers.

Hey,

Does anyone of a place where leagues and casual races are organised? I had a look at the forum in Uncle Petey's signature but it seems pretty dead :(

The only other one I've come across is Race Department's which I need to explore more because it requires a Premium subscription.

Have a look on the official AC forums, there is a special subforum for organising race leagues and events http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?forums/online-leagues-championships-room.46/

Anybody managed to do the time trial challenge around zandvoort in the SLS AMG GT3 god im finding it tough my best time is in the low 1:45 :(.. i am using a T300 wheel and trying to be as smooth as possible :)

Hate GT3s with a passion, if it was a road car I'd give it a go - love Zandvoort :)

Why do you hate them there awesome to drive and they sound great:D

Struggling to get near the 1:42 min a lap @ Zandvoort though with the SLS :(

Low 1:45 is best i can do after many many laps lol.

Just dont like how they handle, too stable at high speeds, too grippy on high speed corners. Plus their driving style has no relevance to real life driving - unlike road car trackday/simming.

The lap looks decent enough, try playing with a setup. With race cars you can take a few seconds off just with a good setup (another reason for not liking them lol).

I fully agree. They're too good to be any fun.

I'm really enjoying cars like the 458, P1 and F1 GTR at the moment which really give your arms a workout with all of the assists turned off (apart from ABS) on Brands Hatch (green surface).
