Assetto Corsa

I've not spent too much time with the AWD Diablos, but the 512TR is sublime to drive - if your'e into soft suspension, body roll and that sort of thing:)

Why did AC developers not just patch it themselfs, why a free mod do it ? i always thought sim had dynamic lights anyway, well every game i have since last 10 years have them, surprised to learn AC dont.

I personally do not care about night racing, but here is a mod that replaced all the shaders in AC and voila: darkness + dynamic lights

I don't know, why? Perhaps you should send them an email or Tweet :D

iRacing, Forza and Gran Tourismo have shadows "baked in" iirc. AC has real time shadow updates but single light source only - the sun usually. With 99% of racing happening in daytime, I'd also go with baked in - if I was making a sim :)

AC:C is using UE4 so could have use all these features already in the engine?

I think UE4 has a choice of either real time lighting or baked, ACC will probably go with real time as 24 hour race lovers were very vocal in AC :) Baked in has no features like shadows moving with the sun, the baked in shadows are just that - static, but imo you only need a static afternoon, morning, evening and night scenes for racing. Dynamic day time was overkill in AC1 to my eyes, plus baked in shadows look cleaner - as seen in Forza, GT and iRacing.

We'll see, ACC is only couple of months away now I believe. However, as it will feature nothing but Blancpain GT3, AC will remain relevant for a good while yet.

I've been playing this a lot recently after buying the top notch Porsche dlc I had skipped and installing lots of quality mods . . . it really is a brilliant racing sim. It's fast approaching 5 years since I bought it in early access too :cool:
Below is pretty much everything I've added to the game and it certainly enhances it. Fristly, forget the cumbersome default launcher, get Content Manager!

Weather/time of day: I use gbWSuite2.4 from Racedepartment. Combined with the Shader Patch: Dynamic Lights mod you can race at night with headlights.

HUD Apps: From RD I use Sidekick for compact race info and Initial D6 HUD 1.6 purely for the analogue gauges in older cars. I dont race online at the moment but HeliCorsa would be a good idea if you do.

Car mods: I get most from RaceDepartment. I wont list them all (just filter by ratings/dowloads) but I would absolutely recommend the Caterham Super7, Lola T70, NFS Class A and B packs, Primera BTCC, Williams FW26

The Aussie V8 Supercars mod is a must if you're a fan of the series.

The only paymod I've ever bought is the RSS GT Pack and it is well worth it if you enjoy GT racecars

Tracks: Again I get most from RaceDepartment. User Lilski's tracks are top quality, his latest Watkins Glen is superb. The open road tracks by Phoenix77 like LA Canyons and Pacific Coast are wip but shaping up nicely too.

I've also downloaded almost all tracks listed here and they are very good quality, though all aren't finished yet. The Spa 1966 is stunning!

Great list weyland.

I too purchased the RSS GT mod - currently my favourite series to race in the game and well worth the money for quality and enjoyment I get out of it.

I'll definitely check out some of the stuff you've listed that I haven't already got.
