Assetto Corsa

What sort of times are you guys managing in the F40 S3 Mugello challenge? Managed to get gold yesterday with a 2:02.9 (I think it was .9) but that was pretty much the first clean lap I've managed. The F40 in that tune is an absolute animal, you have to be so careful in 2nd with the aids off as it's extremely prone to lighting the tyres up even in a straight line if your tyres are a bit grubby.

Has me grinning ear to ear when driving it though!

True. On reflection I'm guessing those are taking in the photo mode as well

I didnt notice any difference in paused game (photo mode?) versus the actual real time racing or replays. Gran Turismo - massive difference, here - I don't see it...

For good settings you need to run Sparse Grid Super Sampling via Nvidia Nspector, it really cleans up the picture and fps cost is minimal on SGSS x2

Ha, didnt know AC had it - cheers for that! Still, it doesnt seem to increase the detail level, like GT does? LODs seem stay the same, you can only tweak depth of field effects and the like.

What graphics settings are you using Matson? Mine definitely doesn't look that good

There taken in photomode so you can alter the depth of field and HDR and bloom to your liking.
Its at max settings with 8x SuperSampling. Of course if the screenshots where PNG instead of JPEG it would look miles better still. Its more the level of detail that impresses me..this game has totally crushed my enthusiasm for DriveClub lol.

Down to a 2:01.016 in the F40 on the Mugello special event. Think I could spend an entire day driving that car there, so much effort but so rewarding. Really can't think of any racing game I've ever played that comes close to just how epic this game feels with a wheel!

I'm loving this game so far, I am by no means a decent driver on sims but it's still incredibly addictive trying to better your times and pushing the cars to the limit for a few less milliseconds.

Still only using a 360 pad but I've got the opportunity to grab a Logitech DFGT for £60 used, so I think I'm going to go for it - can imagine that adds a whole new level to the game!

Also, in terms of a stand for the wheel - is the wheel stand pro a decent shout?

isit me or is the AI bit too aggressive, im forever finding myself being knocked off the track, quite annoying when your driving with no TC and minimal stability control

I have one, the central post is no hindrance and I can reach any of the peddles with either foot. The thing is expensive (costs more than the wheel) and has questionable build quality (mine has a bit of travel in the wheel angle). On a positive it folds down so doesn't take too much room up but I probably would not recommend one although there is not much choice of stands for that price.

Whilst I entirely agree with the sentiment behind this, it has turned out to be the best £30 I've spent on a 'game' recently.

If you enjoy racing sims, I would recommend taking a closer look and visiting the official and Steam forums.

you probably understand it's not about the money but the principle of spending £30 on a very unfinished game. I got a g25 collecting dust so I'm very tempted by it.

I bought Assetto during the 25% off Steam sale at Christmas, and to me it already has the potential to one of the truly defining games of any genre.

With a wheel and a decent rig, the level of control, immersion and graphical fidelity approaches perfection to the point at which I can't see how much better it could get.

This game is still going to be an impressive experience in 100 years time.
