Assistance - Calling all Samsung EVO owners

Looking good.

I'm going on what I see and what I understand, it looks like there's not much wrong with the 840 EVOs. Maybe Samsung have had to "bodge it" a bit in the firmware to get the performance sorted, but it looks like most 840 EVO owners have nothing to worry about.

I've resolved my Samsung 840 drive issue's by swapping it out for a 850 pro!

Test results for the 850 pro :=

And the 840 evo (sequential read had dropped to 379 before swapping it out)

From looking at cyber69's screenshot. I decided to do a test on my 500gb 840 evo.

All fine in HDTune but my IOPS speed is low in Magican.

On a Sata 6 intel port.

I am using this as my system drive and game drive so maybe it is background processes using up the IOPS?

Mine doesn't appear to be writing well at all.

The top one I changed to rapid mode, however changing back gives similar results.

give it a try with HD tune and change the benchmark to 8mb from 64kb in the options

Thanks, tried that but will not let me try a write test.
Read is fine, but write gives warning about partitions and reading manual.
Will have to do that tomorrow now :)

My 120GB Evo has had this behaviour since I got it in march. I had not bothered looking into though because perf is still good, startup/shutdown and app launching don't seem affected. It must be haveing some effect though just not enough to be a problem.

update to magician software 4.6, update firmware etc and see if it makes the system any better
