Astral 5090

one thing being forgot here is the 5090 astral has a much larger heatsink then the 4090. this is why the higher power draw is able to stay within the same temps as the 4090. a larger heatsink and 150 watts more does mean more heat is being pushed into the room and away from the gpu which causes far more of an increase in room temp. this is the entire design and why the 5090 is a beast while staying well within thermal limits/throttle range :)

no no no.........grief. The heat isnt the issue, the card isnt the issue. Everything runs fine. I am stating the 5090 runs much hotter than the 4090 yet the temperatures in the software are the same. Therefore i do not believe the temps sensors are telling the truth.

Isn’t this explained by (1) more power = more heat, hence an hotter room, and (2) the 5090 necessarily being more efficient at cooling than the 4090, hence being able to shift heat off the card better?

You could have a card that uses much less power than the 5090, but is far less efficient / poor at cooling.

In which case, the room temperature will certainly be much cooler, but the sensors in the PC might show higher temps than the 5090 despite the lower power use.

Hammering the point home isn't possible when the lights are on but there is nobody home. OP cannot understand how his room heats up more with 5090 and a 4090 as in 600W of heat rather than 450W going into the room. He has then concluded that because the 5090 is generating more heat by virtue of the fact it consumes more power and his room heats up more that somehow the temperature sensors are showing incorrect temperatures. It is simply impossible to communicate with the OP that the additional heat in the room is all perfectly normal and to be expected.
