Exactly. I thought this was a very informative video about hotspots, sensor placement and other stuff:

It gets to the point of considering the heat when using specific instruction sets :o

Somewhat preferred the days they way underclocked everything for margin.

Great video.

It's very much a case of electronic satanic panic in this instance I feel. There's many reasons to be mad at Nvidia but the argument the OP is making absolutely is not one of them.

Having hot spot temps available is really, really nice if you know what you're dealing with and need to troubleshoot but this is absolutely not that.
