ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ

On windows 11 it’s just one list unfortunately. I’ve also tried doing it through the nvidia control panel with no luck. Have ordered another cable - will see tomorrow if it fixes things.
Sorry i meant the resolution list in the Nvidia Control panel.
There are two resolution sections in that list. One at the top that can only be set to 60hz, and then if i scroll down to the second half of the list, there is a new sub-heading "PC", which allows 4k@120hz.

Ah right I see what you mean. Well I would look but after updating both windows and the monitor firmware it now won’t display a picture at all. It’s ok with my Mac though. Hopefully new cable tomorrow will fix.

So I got a new cable today and everything is working (4K/120/hdr) … apart from I cannot still get hdmi input 1 to show an image at all. I had to use hdmi 2. So in future to do firmware updates I may have to use a laptop to hdmi 1. I’ll try reinstalling my nvidia driver on my main pc too - I’m thinking it’s stored some sort of invalid res/hz setting somehow.

I would recommend at least updating to V028 firmware from the Asus website which has improvements and bug fixes from the shipping V023 FW. I’ll report back on the updated V031 but it’s a simple and easy upgrade each time :)

Did you get a response from your contact at Asus? V031 must be going through some extensive testing before public release?

You could try reinstalling the firmware. On another monitor I had a similar problem and was able to reinstall it to fix it.

Ah ok - so just reflashing fixed that? Let’s hope that input works for my laptop otherwise I won’t be able to update the firmware ever again! The connection has to be to hdmi 1 from the instructions.

No but I’ve chased. I saw mention elsewhere that Asus rep said on Fb it would be out next week

Thanks man apricate it, next week is good, nice to know :)

Been playing Alien Isolation, finished it on hard mode back in 2014 and remember it unlocked a nightmare setting, difficult but oh so good on OLED!

So far so good after day 1, quite enjoying it. Much more manageable size than my 48cx ( thanks for the replies about the VESA adapters i’ll look into them) and much nicer to have it act like a monitor with sleep etc. i’ve already had it tell me to do the pixel cleaning function after 8 odd hours on day 1, is that normal? I’ve ignored it for now and wondering whether it'll do it by itself at night.

I haven't seen it ask me yet, I did it manually in the menus thinking it was enabling it to automate but not had any pop up asking me to.

5th day with the monitor, maybe it's just doing it when I let it go standby mode?

So is this (ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ) going to be the best large 4k g-sync compatible monitor for a while, or is something else just around the corner?

Only 1 way to find out :D
