ASUS ARES ATI RADEON DUAL HD 5870 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

I might take one, it will finish off the Rampage III build nicely.

In my opinion youre better off purchasing a standard 5970 and saving the extra money for the new Cards that will be out in the next 6-12 months. At present there aren't many games (if any) that will require this much power (Ares). Im currently running a Powercolor PCS++ 5870 950mhz Core, and i am able to play all the latest games at 1920*1200 with very decent framerates (60fps+ constant). The only reason i see for purchasing this card is if youre running, or planning to run multiple screens, if not, this is total Overkill!!!!

Wait a sec, the standard 5970 is just 2x 5870 cores downclocked to 5850 speeds (725Mhz instead of 850Mhz). Apart from the extra VRAM, what does the extra £600+ give you over buying a 5970 and overclocking it back to 850Mhz? Craziness...

ooooooh it comes with a mouse...sold!

in seriousness how many of these do OCUK expect to sell in its lifetime? Estimate from Mars card maybe?

Awesome, absolutely awesome. :P

Reviews of the card should be up this Thursday...but the guys over at Overclock3D have a preview!

OMG, 8+8+6 power connectors needed?!
What wattage PSU would you need for this beast! and even crossfiring it!
and the what 12v rail amps would you need?

Can you please tell us who buys one?

Even if I had silly amounts of money that's just too much for something that WILL be replaced in 6 or so months. Unless you had some kind of graphics card hoarding fetish.

Let me make it very very simple for you to understand what these products are, whether you like them or what you think of the price is totally irreverent.

Its about having the very best of a product & not about trying to buy something that will not be superseded for years because that's near impossible.

But unlike those products above the gfx cards in question offer more out of the box then just extra bling in comparison to other 5970's.

Fantastic card, pure overkill for main stream console ported games.

I'd buy one, but, I'm going into a home cinema phase at the moment and that's quite pricey.

watch for personal insults please
you are a long time poster here and should know better

That's about 10 times the maximum I'd consider paying for a GFX card... Surprising that it's only got 1 DVI output.
