It has 2 slots (for power I think), 1 has 6 holes, 1 has 8 holes, do I need to connect them both?

Power to both sockets are needed, they wouldn't put them on there otherwise. What you can do is buy one of these...

It's 2 molex to 6pin. It's preferable to have the 8pin slot filled with an 8pin plug but this will still work.

Thanks for the replies :)

I bought http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-PP and only just received it, but its DOA :( It does have enough 6 pin pugs spare though once I get it replaced. In the meantime I am using my old Coolmaster 550W PSU which doesnt have enough power sockets and so I had to use my old graphics card too (8800 GTS) which is for my media PC.

So once I get my PSU replaced I can use my ASUS 4870x2 with 2x6pin connectors.

Could someone give me some advice. My Asus 4870x2 is only showing 507mhz GPU clock speed and 500mhz clock speed on the catalyst. When I also drop the bar down to select the other GPU to config it shows even less speeds. This does not look right to me. Ive not been happy with the bench marks ive had with it of late. Scores of 13.5k on 3d mark 06. Runs really hot also. Do you think there could be a fault with the card? Also on all the 3d marks it never sees the speeds of the cores in the info section.

What does GPUZ read the speeds as?

On GPUZ it looks normal 750 gpu clock and 900 memory very strange.

Just going to edit this because ive just looked again on GPUZ and on the sensor part its showing the lower speeds.

oh dear. Thats the 2d clock speeds when you run something 3d it clocks up to its full speed

Clock speeds read 507mhz and 500mhz in catalyst. Not the same as when I fist got the card. Been on other forums and someone else had the same problem with this card. Card will not hold its default clock speeds. GPU-z read it as normal on the main page but when you use the tracker it read 507mhz and 500mhz on 1 Gpu and 507mhz and 250 mhz. Thought there were problems when benching. Noticed a few artifacts but thought it was the programme being unstable with the card. All the problems started when i updated the drivers to the new catalyst. Rolled them back and no change.

My spec is q8300 4 gig xms 800hz 900watt power supply vista 32 bit. Motherboard is my biggest let down Standard board which I started with. Cheap Nvidia chip set made by RoHS will be looking to get a new one very soon. Got my new Antec 300 case coming.
