Asus MAXIMUS IV EXTREME

also on the new bios lets me use lower voltage on the core for prime stable 5ghz

only problem i had was my mouse was a bit fussy about what port i put it in razor death adder 3500 dpi

also think there is a newer driver for the usb3 on the asus site

Hi,

I've downloaded the 1204 bios from the Asus site however everytime I try to flash update the bios I get a message that it's not an EFI bios so cannot continue.

I seem to be having intermittent USB issues with the Logitech G930 headset, this used to work fine on my old mobo.

sorry to bump an old thread, but its better than making a new one, Does anyone know if you can shoe horn the maximus IV extream in a CM storm scout case? I hope so other wise thats anougher 100-200 quid blown from my new pc budget.

Sorry but I dont think it will fit as the mb is e-atx but its worth a try anyhow

My M4E died inexplicably, guess that's a possibility with any motherboard but just thought I'd pass along my experience. Before it died it was an excellent board though.

i cant find the offset mode in the bios, my cpu voltage doesnt go down when the speed does(1.6ghz). my p8p67 had a offset mode and the volts used to drop under 1v and temps used to be under 30 idle with standard intel cooler. with this board they are at 40 and the cpu is running at 1.6. ive installed the latest bios and cpu voltage is set to auto.

going to look in actual cpu voltage drop down box, just found out it should be there

well i cant access the cpu voltage box as its greyed out, it has manual mode already in it.

sorted, i had to change phase control to anything other than extreme

Hi folks, OP here.

Got my MIVE last week.

I've been getting weird little freezes where everything hangs for a second, and any sound playing skips. This happens about once per minute, sometimes it hangs while booting.

After some investigation, I've found it's a problem with port S1 on the Marvell RAID controller. When I put my HDD on any other SATA port it stops happening.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Am I going to have to speak to ASUS about getting RMA?

Thanks,
KB.

Strange issue there 'KingBob' is it a known issue with the board?

I don't know.
I'll call ASUS later and ask them about it.

The weird thing about it, is that it seems to get worse if I use non-ASUS recommended drivers, ie. the latest and greatest straight from Marvell.

I would have expected, if it is a hardware fault, for drivers not to make a difference.

Am I wrong?

hmmm well ive been pretty unsatisfied with the board up until now, now i have it working like i had my old deluxe working. temps are spot on and low and voltage is dropping and rising at the right rates now. when i first turned the board on it had the 1204 bios on, immediatley i noticed temps were over 65c in the bios where as my p67 deluxe used to be between 50-55...i thought more hardcore of a board maybe thats why temps are higher, in windows they it was like 40-45 idle in a cold room...too high. i re applied mx-4 3 times with same results. anyway i wont go into detail but overclocking would make voltage go crazy high and temps too, and it was just a 4.3 oc. bios 1303 and 1485(i think) never made any difference.

anyway today i thought right i will start a fresh and i will use the original bios(1407) on the second bios chip. so i hit the bios switch chip and booted into the bios, put fan on full permanent, ram down to 1.5v. 43 multi and offset mode(no voltage input), the rest on auto. i noticed that the temp was now running at 55c in the bios.....so i booted into windows and wow, it was behaving exactly like my p67 deluxe idle temp right now is 28c!!!!!! all cores are identical temps when settled. the volts ramp up and down and they are not crazy volts....im so relieved now. im not going back to the other bios now. so switching bios did the trick so i would like to know what the hell is up with the other bios. was crap even in its original form?(1407) does anyone know...i guess it must be a setting but even on default settings i was getting stupid temps and volts
