Asus P5Q-E (P45) Motherboard Review

Use Memset to test the PL in Windows. Drop down one level at a time til Windows freezes, then use the last working number. Might not be able to go below 10 at 1:1 tho.

Thanks for the tip. I'm actually running FSB 333 with RAM set at DDR2-800

PL was at 10. I've got it down to 7, haven't tried any lower. But that's enough to restore the Deep Fritz 10 4CPU benchmark back to the P5N-E level :)

Ok it's not the -E but My P5Q delux will not Post !
It's done a couple of funnies before at post but power of cycle recovers cmos settings, this time it's dead as, swapped everything except the CPU

Any ideas anyone ?

well atleast the sorted the back i/o plate out now

back cushioned and also no silly parts sticking out covering the lan ports or keyboard port

must admit, it was a basic package though

Hi mate

What can I do about my I/O back plate?
I bought my P5Q-E on 2nd July, and the back plate is covering the top 2 USB ports and the keyboard PS/2 connection so much, I can't use them.

Here is a picture...

As you can see from the SPDIF OUT connector how far the holes are to the left, resulting in not being able to use the 2 USB ports and the PS/2 port.

I also can't use the eSATA port, which I'm not too bothered about but still, I expected to be able to use it if needed.
I can use the 4 USB ports below though.

What do you think I should do, ask for another I/O plate? Also are there problems with them as from Maddness' post?

Thanks :)

I'm not sure, tho I think that he's refering to the furry backing and lack of the metal bits sticking out over the holes that all other IO shields have.

Is that a standard ATX case? It's possible that your stand-offs are too long. Have other boards been ok in that case?

Mine is slightly out as well - for example the sound connections. I was somewhat surprised. But not enough to make any of the connections unusable.

Hi mate, just saw your post & email

looks like its slightly out, might be worth trying some smaller motherboard stand offs, they look to be slightly big hence pushing the ports out slightly

you might have some at home lying around? or they can be picked up from auction cheaply

mine fits pretty flush

also, the ones your using are all the same size yeah? :p

Thanks for the reply mate.
The stand offs were already screwed in, in the case and I didn't try un screwing them, can that be done (Antec P182 case) as I don't want to take everything out, to find they can't be unscrewed :p

I have got plenty of stand offs though around, it came with a few in the box of screws too.
