Looks amazing allright. I hope it will be released this summer at least, would go perfectly with the new 980 TI.

Is there any big or noticeable difference between 1ms tn and this 4ms ips monitor while playing first person shooting games?
Now it will be tn swift vs ips swift. Dilemma

depends how sensitive you are. I went from 1-2ms TN to 6ms (prob mor elike 8-10) IPS and in some games its very noticeable, still, after years of use. Other games I dont notice it at all (some FPS). But this is all at 60hz, rather than 144hz.

For me, after my first IPS monitor, I now only use IPS screens. The colors are just that much nicer.

Been waiting a long time for a 120+ IPS screen, so im hoping asus dont **** this up like acer did.

Can u enlighten me please what exactly acer did?

They put a load of shoddy panels in to the marketplace that had not been QC'd properly, or at all in some cases it seemed. They also employed a man with no taste, and a fetish for glossy piano black, to design the monitor. He did a bad job and was promptly fired... unfortunately, he now works for VW as my Golf is full of the stuff!!

As Legend said, the first batch of monitors that came out had a very high rate of problems with dead pixels, stuck pixels, dust in the screen and very bad backlight bleed. OCUK have spoken to them and they have stated that they now udnerstand that with a premium priced product they need to have better QC as people expect better, something they are not used to producing.

Their products have always been budget, and then the put a price on their new screen to make it premium, without actually doing any of the things that premium companies do, to justify the price.
People are now waiting for the new batch to see if its any better.

And stupid glossy piano black plastic. Makes it look cheap as hell, which it is, even though its priced at high end.
Read the thread if you want more info.

Asus have a better reputation imo, not that I followed the swift problems due to it being a TN panel and myself having no interest in it.
It certainly looks nicer already though.

Although it will be a shame to remove the stand with the nice ROG logo on it so I can mount it on my monitor arm.

Who knows, if its good enough and priced right, I might gradually replace my other two 27's as well rather than just my 30.

Going by previous announcements vs release dates etc Id guess it will be more towards the end of this year possibly early next.

The price... well if they were asking £600 before VAT for premium TN panel Id say around £699 before VAT at least.

All guess work at the moment. Seen no official news on price or availability yet.

Sweclockers said Asus expects the PG279Q somewhere around the ''late summer months''. So that means there is a possibility we'l see this one much earlier then we think? Whens the IPS Free-Sync monitor coming out, the MG279Q was it? If that monitor is out by the end of June I don't see why the PG279Q couldn't be released by end of July or August. Haha, I'm being way too optimistic aren't I.

I'm still not sure if I even want an IPS. I want very good black colours, and last I knew, IPS screens have issues with good black uniformity due to IPS glow.

@PullTheTricker HDMI is not useless if you want to use the monitor with a console too, like I do. That's another reason why the Acer I had was sent back.
Consoles only run at 30fps usually, so I don't see the point in using a premium PC monitor with a console.
The reason I specifically asked is because the Swift has a feature that bypasses internal processing, so the display switches on instantaneously when you hit the power button. As long as this Instant On feature still works I'm ok with it. But if the inclusion of an additional signal/hdmi port will lose the Swifts Instant On feature, then I can only see this as a compromise for the PC users.

So if you zoom into the picture. It includes 3D Vision under specifications. The leaked images showed only a G-Sync sticker on the base, and the second sticker missing. So obviously it could eitherway be a typo or perhaps it is included.
From what I heard last time the Acer panel wasn't fast enough to implement the 3D Vision on a IPS. If Asus has it succesfully included, could this mean its a much faster panel? Here's hoping for 120Hz Backlight Strobe ULMB on the first IPS ever.

i really expect this to be the same AUO AHVA panel as used in the ACer XB270HU and Asus MG279Q. not aware of any other versions in production from any IPS manufacturer. of course overdrive circuit could vary from one to another so response times could be impacted.

I want one monitor, not two, that's why I am interested in this IPS panel over the ACER for example, as that only had DP input. The next gen consoles still output at 60hz regardless of whether the frame rate is 30 or less at times.

I simply want this to be exactly the same as the Acer (performance wise), without the shoddy panel and build quality and cheap looking casing. Would be as close to perfect as it can get right now. I'd would also refuse to go anywhere near it untill actual customer reviews come out and there is some sort of pixel perfect guarantee.
