Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Dark Hero Release? *** NO Competitor Talk ***

I have this ram (32 GB F4-3600C16D-16GTRG GSkill Trident Z Royal Ram) which is actually 4 x 8gig sticks running well on the Aorus Master and noticed GSkill recommend this kit on the Dark Hero so was hoping it would do the job if i swapped to Asus

did you have to make any BIOS changes to get it to work? When I put 4 sticks in I received a 0D message on the onboard LCD and it went no further

No, just enabled docp. It is the latest beta bios 3202.
I did have a one off when the pc didn't boot because of what I suspect was the memory.
So maybe it was very slightly unstable, but since moving to 3202 it hasnt happened again.

Great......
My preordered board has now been shifted from being overdue last week to a projected 2nd March. Presumably affects others who preordered from the same place.

Trust me Anybody, I had two different x570 boards with a 5800x and 5900x.

After so many days and hours, they did perform a bit worst than my old 8700k@5ghz and z370.

Both systems tweaked with rams, same gpu and so many tests, games, benchmarks.

The 5900x just killed in everything the 8700k. But not in gaming.

It's around 3-5fps less in games at 4k. At 4k we are gpu bound. But I set up my 3090 kingpin at the same speed in afterburner to make equal the comparison and the results are very steady in gaming.

If you also do productivity then go for 5900x. If you game like me go intel.

I'm heading for a asus z490 Maximus xii extreme or the z590 Maximus hero. I have a deal for the extreme from 899€ to 540€. Same price but the z590 is newer...

In your experience was the AMD x570 5000 Ryzen build reliable and faultless?
I have been spoiled with my old Intel Sandybridge 2700k system for many years been completely reliable and faultless and I'm looking to either switch x570 5000 ryzen or stick to an intel 10900k build.

My 3080 works fine with my dark hero and two M.2's on the board a pci4 in the first slot and a pci 3 in the second slot.

I've had a number of usb issues since getting the board. the main one I had was with my ROG mouse and keyboard, resolved that by connecting them to a usb hub instead of the back usb connectors. Though still sometimes there are glitches with the USB ports.

I've heard back in late 2020 that there may be some issues with the USB ports on those motherboards, so it is still the case ? how can it be fixed ? because on my side I sometimes have some wierd things happening to my USB devices.

Are there any "safe" ports to connect them ?

Edit : https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/kbr6zl/usb_issues_on_b550x570_motherboards/ Indeed there is a problem ...

Ive just had to set my new 3090 to Gen3 on a Dark Hero board! :(

Ive also got a Gen4 M.2 in my top slot.

Have any of you guys also experienced the USB disconnect issue when using Gen4 PCIE?

Loads of mentions of it but nothing from the manufacturers: PCIe Gen 4 causes USB problems on B550/X570 (asus.com)

My friend has this issue on his gigabyte board, I don't have any issues but my m.2 is only gen3.

His issue only happens though when adobe starts taxing his system.

Yeah it only occurs for me when I do a number of things like the forums say including screen share on discord, steam overlay in a game and PUBG lobby (where I noticed it most).

I tried setting my M.2 to Gen3 and keeping the GPU at Gen4 but it still didn't work so I don't think the M.2 matters.

It may be that people who haven't noticed it just haven't tried the things we who are noticing it have tried.
It only occurs in particular use cases so not everyone will notice it for example in my case I play PUBG it occurs in the lobby, USB stutter and cant talk or hear discord correctly but once I get into a game it works fine, no issues.

Apparently it's an issue with Ryzen and 3000 series, so hoping it will be resolved by a MOBO BIOS update or a Chipset update.

New bios 3204. Description the exact same as the previous. God knows what's changed.
have just updated to 3204, all seems stable so far, only changes i made in the bios was to enable DOCP, resizable BAR on and set the ASUS performance mode.

I Think the only difference between this and the previous version is that this one is not a beta version.

Will try tomorrow to install my other 32gb of ram to see if it now will accept the 4 * 16GB sticks that I've previously had issues with.

Good luck, let us know how you get on with the new bios.

What is "Asus Performance Mode" ? you mean the PBO ?

It's something I've not seen before, it may have been there but I'd not noticed. When you are in the BIOS, if you go to the EZ Setup page. In the top right hand corner you have the EZ System tuning. From there you can select an Asus Optimal profile. Then when you restart the PC on the BIOS pass through screen it shows (for me at least) Overclocked 13%. Don't know if this is then auto setting PBO from this screen and making other necessary settings.

Took my desk case apart to try the other 2*16GB of ram to add onto what is already in there after the BIOS update and still fails to boot with Od error :-( also tried loosening off my AOI as someone had mentioned that having that oo tight can flex the motherboard. Looks like I won't be able to get 64GB working on the board via 4*16GB sticks, so will put the 2*16GB ram up for sale.

That's a shame, have four sticks to go into my Dark Hero, was hoping you would have some success with the new bios.

it could just be something about the memory I'm using and you may have more success than me.

On the positive side I've not experienced any issues with this new BIOIS, not crashes/blue screens/systems issues etc. All seems to work well.

Yea I'm running 4x 16GB with no issues, Samsung B Die Corsair Platinums at 3600mhz 16-18-18-36, run them at 1.4v havent tried anything lower.
Can't get it to boot at all past 3600mhz though haven't tried the latest bios yet, I feel like its too much strain on the CPU memory controller.

Only time I ran into the 0D error was when I was reseating my RAM when I was trying to figure out an issue I was having where no display was being outputted which turned out it was my TV essentially crashed and needed a reboot.

Damn, that's such a shame. Thanks for testing and letting us know.
