Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Dark Hero Release? *** NO Competitor Talk ***

Hi

Has anyone fitted a Noctua NH D15 cooler to this board yet? Just wondering about the space between the cooler and the GPU, is there any conflict?

I’m intending to run a Dark Hero board, NH D15 cooler, and RTX 3090 FE.

Not sure when I’m going to get my hands on a processor so have time to change my intended cooler if necessary.

thanks

Got exactly the same myself, but it's 2x8GB TForce Xtreem ARGB 3600 CL14 RAM. Two sticks are fine, 4 (or 3) doesn't POST. I get the orange LED at the top light up (RAM issue) and a "0d" on the Q-Code. I raised this with Asus, they suggested changing some power related things for power states 4 and 5 - didn't work. Then suggested the beta BIOS - but I didn't try that.

I've seen elsewhere on the internet people suggesting it's to do with motherboard flex and to loosen the cooler on the CPU, but I really don't want to dismantle the machine right now

Exactly the same error code that i'm facing and similar in that I've been waiting for a new BIOS that states in the notes that this issue will be fixed. I'm very disappointed at the moment that i can't use all of the ram I've bought to go with this motherboard.

I did see one video on youtube that was discussing memory changes and tuning and while it wasn't specific to 4 sticks it did talk about ram stability on the Drk Hero, so might give that a go. My problem is that as I've got a lovely Lian Li Desk Case which is great normally until you want to change the parts when you've got to take everything off the top of the desk, take the glass desk top off and then start to work on the components. So keen to see there's a known solution before taking it all apart.

It is my exact setup and there is absolutely no issue

I really hope it is just a BIOS issue and not a flexing motherboard like that other link reported.

Actually, just found the link and it's actually for the Crosshair VIII, which is obviously very similar: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?118477-ROG-CH-VIII-(Non-Wifi)-RAM-problems

Hopefully if enough people raise this issue with this type of RAM and this motherboard, they might get some in and do some testing/fixing!

Excellent, thank you.

Could I push my luck and ask if you’d be happy to upload some pics at some point please?

I’m intending to also add the decorative cover which adds 3mm (1.5mm each side) to the cooler. Hopefully still no issue?

ANybody seen Asus new price rises from 1st Feb? Pretty much every board is getting a 50% price hike!

I think the dark hero is set to be £750.

This cannot be true

I managed to get the DH on release for £480, which was a bit pricey.

I see OCUK, are now selling them for around £460, I am surprised that they still in stock.

I am still trying to get hold of an RTX 3080 ASUS Tuf OC, wonder how much this is now going to be

I ordered on Saturday and got an dispatch email today (technically, it was 2 minutes past midnight)

I placed an order on 17 Jan, when it was showing "10+ in stock" , and a couple hours ago I got an e-mail saying " Your Order has been packed and is in the process of being shipped."

I hope this helps with your question.

Thanks chaps, that has put my mind at rest. This in the only component left in my build that I have not received. Well, apart from the Gigabyte Xtreme 3090 I ordered on 24 September from OC although as I am now 6th in the queue, hopefully it won't be much longer!

I have Ryzen 5950X, ROG Strix 3090 24GB OC 3090 and 64GB G.Skill Trident Z NEO RGB DDR4 3600MHz CL14 Quad Channel. No manual overclocking. Would there be much advantage to me getting the ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero oppose to the cheaper ASUS ROG Strix X570-F motherboard in my case? I see it has 'Optimem III' as oppose to Optimem I if that makes much difference?! And passive cooling instead, but other than that can't see a huge difference.

Thanks.

There's not a giant difference between them - the Dark Hero (or Hero) are 'better' than the Strix but that's only if you're going to take advantage of what the Hero offers. The main differences between the Dark Hero and the Hero are the passive cooling & Dynamic OC, which lets you switch between PBO & Manual OC based on the workload.

If the X570-F suits your ports/feature requirements then there's no reason not to go for it.

Have you got a link to that bad news?

I pre-ordered with a competitor but just missed out on their last batch. It was set to be in stock yesterday but unfortunately hasn’t materialised yet. Hoping this doesn’t affect preorders placed in the past!

Also hoping that price increase only affects the US as a I remember reading with other stuff for US specific tariff reasons?

For that particular image host, you need to link to the image itself (i.e. a URL ending with .jpg), not the page with the image. You can get to it by clicking the little download icon on that page, which takes you to https://i.ibb.co/QfX4vmW/Fichier-000.jpg. If you put that in an image tag, it works, like this:

Asus official page on FB. To be fair, you are right, it mainly seems to be because of the new tariff in the US.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/ASUSPCDIY

its 10-20% increase across the board for the new socket plus 25% for the new tariff.

Cant believe they actually have two motherboards priced over £1000 though! I also see their top 3080 is now $1049, ouch.

I presume tariff is down to US going hard on China?

That’s lucky for us at least then, was worrying it was some BREXIT / COVID tax or generally a cashing in scalping opportunity.

Yes I don’t know the ins and outs of the import tariffs other than reading the odd thing on Reddit, related to Trump buffoonery though as you’d expect. I’m sure people mentioned it would be the same for several suppliers so the US are going to see it tougher than us in the near future.

Hi all. I have just (yesterday) ordered a Dark Hero as OC said they have 10+ in stock. Is this true and has anyone been sent one in the last week?

Ordered mine late on Friday evening, so wouldn't have hit their systems until the Saturday/Monday and received my board this morning.

Got it installed in a replacement ROG Strix Helios case this evening, USB headers connected without a bent pin in sight. Need to install my 5950X and mount the Arctic Liquid Freezer II, Arctic had sent me a mk3 mounting kit but seems one of the screws/stand off's has a cross thread so going to mount it using the original brackets, it's a little fiddly as need to make sure the backplate is held securely to push down on and screw in the mounting block. I do have some red/black ROG cables to use with this build, but think with the Dark Hero I'm going to use the black cables that came with the PSU.
