Asus UL30A

anyone can post a pic of this laptop WITH the power supply attached. want to see how big the brick is and the shape of power pin is. i'm a little worried as i always use compact/transport mouse but the pic of left side of the laptop, power, network cable could be in the way for mouse. cheers

edit: does the laptop come with case/bag from carphone warehouse, i'm thinking of asking my gf to pick it up tomorrow morning when i'm at work. need reply quick pls

thanks

no it doesnt

got the ASUS UL30A, i cant believe how good it is for £350!!! i expected the laptop would made of toliet paper :D

just perfect for me, not too small, not too big, just right with dual core 1.2ghz. surprisely speedy. love the keyboard. good screen. blew my mind.

love express gate as well lol

question about the DVD os they provided. i want to format and reinstall win7, dont fancy to use recovery system as it would restore everything includes asus craps.

is it ok if i delete all partitions and use the asus win7 DVD via USB pen drive? what about serial key for win7?

cheers

Heard people say the supplied power supply is a bit weedy to charge the battery and use the laptop at the same time, I have an old Asus psu from my old 14" laptop which is probably a bit beefier, will it be OK to use that to charge this model?

Im sure it is, but what I mean is with such a high capacity battery it must take forever to charge if you are using the laptop as well, would I see any benefit in using my old Asus one which is probably a higher wattage.

Ordered my UL30A from CPW last night, but my bank did the whole verification thingy on the credit card I used - I tried phoning CPW to sort it out tonight but there was no-one there (they said they're open 8am-9pm)
Ah well, hopefully I can sort it out tomorrow.
Also, can anyone recommend a decent cheap sleeve for the UL30?

No problems here either

Use the one supplied. Charges fine whilst using it.

the product serial from the product sticker underneath the laptop, is it 32 or 64bit?

as i tried my own professional upgrade DVD and work's win7 pro, the key wont work

Dunno about the serial underneath, but mine has 64-bit 7 Home Premium

to keep with the spirit of the community, I've got mine as well. Really like it so far, It feels like a netbook+, a bit more of everything, for not much money.

I've also installed a Samsung PB22-J 128gb SSD as an experimental trial-run, no problems at all. Loads win 7 under 20 secs :)

cracking machine, keeps me sane since I've sold my NC10, waiting endlessly for a decent switchable graphics notebook!

Very interested in this. Pretty much gives me what I want from a netbook-ish sized machine, i.e. better than 1024x800 res, more than 1GB RAM, x64 compatibility and better processor.

I would wipe the disk and reinstall W7 to remove the pre-installed rubbish. So does the UL30(A) come with a genuine MS W7 disc or is it supplied with an Asus recovery disk that restores Windows?

Asus recovery disk I'm afraid. I used a DVD of win7 home premium on a bootable usb flash, and the registration key from the laptop. Then on to Asus website for all the drivers :)

I'm still amazed at the battery endurance of the thing. It just goes on forever.
