Asus UL30A

For all those who have brought this pretty little thing, how are you finding the processing power of the SU2300?

How does it handle BBC iPlayer, 720p youtube vids (or even 1080 at a long shot), general browsing on net and office work?

Very tempted to pick one up while its on offer at the moment for £349!

I for one and VERY VERY impressed by this little beauty.
Picked mine up today and have been plesently supprised again and again.
I've thrown 1080P MKV's at it as well as some 1080P Youtube and it handeled them flawlessly :D
General windows and browsing is also extreamly snappy, for 350 notes this thing is a bargin.
 
yeah I think I have decided on the UL30 :) Just need to sell my rig now.

I also saw this backlit keyboard mod which looks pretty cool...I'll probably do this one.

Just tried some HD iplayer and it ran like a dog unfortunatly.

FORTUNATLY all is not lost and the horrible performance turns out to be caused by the BBC changing there encoding to totaly break DXVA in the latest Flash releases :rolleyes::rolleyes:
Running the original beta 1 however results in perfect butterly smooth HD :D

I see people are still extremely impressed by this, and that the UL30JT is not coming to the UK and would probably be far much more then I'm willing to pay.

Is there anything else just around the corner around this price that I should be aware of or should I take the punt and order it today for what I assume will be tuesday delivery now?

I was in the market for a netbook but at £200-£230ish this seems worth the extra.

for the price i would order it today, you wont regret it! ;)
 
i'm liking the sony e-series 15.5 inch laptops as well as this. the e series is a lot more expensive but would people say it's worth the extra money if i can afford it? want something with portability but also a bit of power. the asus seems good as it's cheap so i could replace it in say 1.5 years for another laptop at £350. would laptops at £350 in 1.5 years time be better then one now at £750?
 
Guys before I go ahead and order this, how are you finding the battery life on this, is it as good as Asus claim, my other option is the Dell14z (su4100 cpu) which is £369 online at the mo, but I need battery life over the bigger display/DVD drive.
 
Have you tried video on it, im hoping for 2 films? Ive got a powergorilla aswell, so that shoul theoritically give me extra couple of hours, basically i need a flight companion!
