At what age are you too old to game?

I'm reluctant to mention I'm a gamer in public. :o

I'm by no means old at 25, but I do find that I am finding games more boring these days than in my teens. Either it is because I am just getting older and finding the novelty wears off more quickly, or that games are just not as enjoyable for me as they used to be, simply because they seem to be recycling the same thing over. Really what I mean is (and I mean no disrespect to anybody who enjoys today's games) with the exception of Skyrim and Deus Ex:HR, I haven't seen too many games try hard to change things up to keep interested.

This, exactly.

We've had this type of thread before, if people enjoy doing something then it's classed as a hobby or pastime , if people play golf till they drop dead of old age then why not play computer games.

That means you want to look for something different to play.

I've got bored with games in the past, but I just started playing different types of games. Right now on the PC there are endless amounts of games to choose from if you are adventurous enough to try something new - if you are fed up with CoD, then try Terarria, FTL or one of the many great indie games available on Steam. Just pick a different genre and try it - but if you really want to play something that isn't recycling the same ideas, then you want to try ones that aren't 'Triple A'.

As for being too old? No such thing.
I'm mid-30s and still enjoy it (playing since I was around 10), and my Dad does as well (he plays CoD and similar on the Wii, then plays Football Manager and others on the PC)

Age is no determining factor on gaming, if you want to play games as an OAP then go ahead, I probably will do.

Im 41 and have been gaming most of my life -

the thing you have to watch out for with gaming is that you dont become addicted to it; and not to use it as an escape for your real life - take real life head on and use gaming as a means of amusement and enjoyment.

Then IMO you are never too old.

Gaming would actually be quite good when you're elderly, much cheaper too - you complete your new game then forget that you did it and play it all again, never need to buy another one ! :D

Gaming is a hobby for all ages, and it will be one of my hobbies forever into the future!

So my question is, at what age do you think you should have grown out of gaming?

I know gaming is something we all start at a young age, and like a lot of things we enjoy at a young age, we tend to grow out of. But i think gaming is comparable to watching movies and reading books, listening to music etc, those sort of home entertainments that we use at a young age mature with age just like gaming does, and therefore we don't grow out of it. Some people just get bored of it, and move onto other things that entertain them.

The cool thing about gaming is though, even the games you played as a kid are still just as good in today's generation of games (if not better), and that's why i will never grow out of gaming!

I'm almost 40 and intend to play games for as long as my eyes and hands are up to it, and even when they start to fail I'll just get a bigger TV and play slower paced games I reckon.

I'm nearly 45 and been gaming since i was around 7. If anyone tried to take away my games then i'd take away their testicles :)
I know a guy who is 72 and hammers COD & BF3 for at least 5 hours a day, sad thing is that he has terminal cancer and has around 3 months to live.

47 and enjoy gaming as much as ever ..... well until they stop pumping out Lego titles and quality stuff like bioshock .... which reminds me Infinite is due pretty soon cant wait :)
