Shaunae Miller in the 400

Brilliant work, doing anything for the Gold. Remember David Neville doing the same for Bronze back in Beijing.

Great womens 400 - she did not want to lose that !!

800m from Rudisha was superb - stunning performance from a class athlete.

Pole Vault was superb drama - a little bit of disappointment in the crowd booing the frenchman when going for the 6.08 but still great home win and the scenes in the crowd after were superb.

Edit - infact Frenchman is NOT HAPPY - comparing it to 1936 crowd against Jessie owens!!

They've been talking on 5 live about the controversy of that pole vault. Crowd was booing Lavillenie as he was about to take his last vault. Very offputting for him no doubt and I remember he showed them a thumbs down. He later criticised them, but then apparently has apologised on social media for being hasty in judgement.

Such a shame about the booing, very uncalled for - even happened at the 100m finals but that was a bit more understandable...

IIRC at 2012 we only booed the PM/CoE

His good start allowed him to slow down in that last 100m - man if he only got everything together he could do sub 9.5 and a sub 19. I dont think hes ever had that mentality to need to go for broke - shame he had all those issues in the last few years, he could have beaten his records with ease...

Mens Pole Vault medal ceremony and the French guy gets booed as he gets his medal

Unfortunately hes in tears...

Was listening to Michael Johnson at the weekend descrbing how running 400m flat out is impossible, but he never actually said the maximum distance he was ever able to run flat out

Im guessing from the above its ~250m or so?

(Im assuming the 200m are flat out like the 100m?)

400m - take off hard from the blocks, then try and bounce down the second 100m save some energy, then up a gear right on the bend of the start of the third 100m then the final 100m just try and hold on, hope your legs don't give up.

400m is such a tiring race, every muscle and chemical in your body are burning, but it feels good about an hour afterwards. It's about 93% flat out.
