** ATi X1k/HD 3k series overclocking guide - ATi Tray Tools and ATi Tool + FAQ **

Always had Nvidias before so Im a total ATI noob , I could do with some advice.
I've put an X1900XT on an Asus A8N-sli. I don't want to operate in sli and only intend using one card.

I'm just a little worried that I might have problems with the gart driver with an ATI card on this board. Do you think this will be a problem.
Is there much on the software disk thats worth bothering with or shall I go straight to the ATI support for the latest cats and leave it at that.
Uninstalling old drivers and installing new ones on Nvidia cards was fairly straight forward, I hope ATI won't be much different !

Nah, its all good. Look at my sig. Get the latest 6.2's, they work great.

My connect x1900xtx clocks to 689/797 using CCC and nowt else. Runs at around 80degrees C (which seems hot to me). Ran 3d mark 06 with it and got 6023 but during the penultimate graphics test the whole screen kept going white!? so will lower the clocks a bit :)
What kind of max Temps do those of you using the stock cooler get?

Looking in this thread, and the ones over @ XS, it seems the XTX's are VERY cherry-picked.

I'm clocking my X1900XT on water right now. Core seems to go to ~ 735 Mhz, memory 'only' goes to about 800 Mhz. (OCZ Ramsinks, 1.1ns as far as I can tell).

The XT-X memory seems to easily clock beyond that.

am seeing a lot of people with the same core and mem as me and the only reason i cant get it any further is because of ccc limiting it how are some people getting past 700 yet others like me cant get past 689 on the mem   it cant be a cooling thing currently running a sapphire xtx at stock speeds until i work out why i cant clock higher

Use ATI Tool Beta 14

Hmmm ATI for clocking doesn't work for me (x1800XT here), I have to use ATI overclocker.

I do as you do though and alter voltages / fan speeds in ATI tool yet use overclockers 2D payne to alter the clocks.

Had it running up to 700/1660 so far with 1.420v on the core.

Where do I find ati overclocker? I've never used it before and I am stuggling to find a link with google.

Anyone use powerstrip to set clocks? I already have this installed for the in game gamma hotkeys which are the only ones I've found to work in all games.

Got it working. Once you have finalised clocks how are you getting them to start at boot? overclocker to the start menu?

Did ATI Tool Beta 14 not work with your card?

The problem with Overclocker is that it increases memory timings, which yes, allows the memory to clock higher, but you can't make up the speed enough to compensate for the increased latency.

Ati tool does work with my card but I think I only tried overclcoking it with beta 12? The problem I had with that was when I set my voltage and then clocked the card, everything was fine. But if I rebooted and tried to load that profile I would get lock ups.

I will try with ati tool beta 14. The only reason I was looking at overclocker was it was recommended earlier in the the thread.

I already have powerstip installed for the in game gamma keys. Are there any disadvantages to using that for the clock and ati tool for the voltages/fans?
