Anybody knows if ATI has any plans to bring out something similar to 3D vision? ATI brought eyefinity first but nvidia responded in a few months so why isn't ATI doing the same with 3D? I'm thinking of switching back to nvidia just for the 3D capability.

great. if thats true we''ll never get proper support.. ATI needs to realise that sometimes they need to put their hands in their pockets and not leave it up to so called "open standards" and 3rd party support.
its not just games its bluray 3D movies as well.
The market on 3D gaming & 3D movies 3D TV are tiny at the moment.
Eyefinity & NV surround in gaming is tiny too but multi monitor is a feature that has been available & used for quite sometime.
Hi Rroff,as i know you own 3D vision in your opinion would you say its not worth getting?
Im asking as i did plan to get this on my next purchase next month

Just another gimmick like physx. After reports from friends who have used it I really am not interested. Hope they concentrate on brining out good value performing cards.
Until the image quality with 3D matches the quality without glasses then I won't be using 3D, eventually one day we'll all have it and never say never because things are always improving but I don't see myself using it now or anytime in the near future.

the majority of reports are extremely positive and neither physX or 3D are gimmicks. they just need to be implemented properly.
Yes implemented properly, but when is the crucial point.
well in case of 3D most new games with a big budget come with good 3D support.
Its not the support in question but the quality of the tech that needs to evolve.

Almost a whole generation by the looks of it. Nvidia need to catch up to push down ATI's next gen prices, otherwise we are all going to be paying a lot more.

I highly doubt you did any serious research.
Well... I bought it... thought wow this is cool and used it for about 2 hours... and I've not really used it since except for watching the odd 3D movie. I just find it slightly too inconvenient when gaming even tho the effect is quite good.

Believe me, if it was worth the money I would have it. I can live without slightly more realistic flags and particle bouncing from Physx and the headaches from 3D. Until the issues are worked out they will remain in use by the minority. The only reason Physx is now "popular" is because it just happens to be supported by Nvidia graphics cards that people own anyway. The dedicated Physx cards certainly didnt sell well.
Edit: Rroff - how are long gaming sessions with 3D enabled? Have heard so many reports of people getting headaches with it.
I didn't get headaches - but my eyes definitely felt fatigued after 30-40minutes - I can see some people would get headaches from it.
I can't really explain it too well... but I just didn't feel quite as quick/responsively connected to the game when playing in 3D, especially games like MW2, quake, etc.

fair enough but yours is but one opinion and mw2 and quake with an opengl hack running at 60fps physics are hardly the best test of it. everyone who's tested mine has been blown away by it but then again i showed them things like stone giant bench, mafia 2 demo, just cause 2, left4dead 2, metro 2033 etc that were mostly designed for 3D
