ATI's equivalent to 3D Vision?

I find 3d vision very entertaining. Great to show anyone who has an interest in movies/games/cool stuff.

Playing games like Trine, Zombie Driver, and my favourite Rocket Knight. Are played even on an 8 series. Arcade style platformers. Puzzles etc.

I don't have the power (8800gtx) to play mw2/bfbc2 at any significant quality without fps issues really. I like my games 60fps. had lots of fun on HL2 and Dirt 2 nethertheless. Also, WOW is unbelievable. I don't own the game, but played at a friends who has 3dvision. Partical effects are incredible. Great immersion.

From my own experience - and from letting other people use my 3D Vision kit as I don't use it that much myself - I found overwhelmingly most people think its very cool but impractical for day to day use - and most of them have been glad they borrowed it to find that out rather than spending £300 odd on something they end up not really using much.

As most threads seem to be people not really sure if they should go for it or not I'd rather give them my opinion based on experience with the kit, hopefully get them to test it before commiting rather than be all enthusiastic and then have them regret spending the money on it - which from my experience is the story from 9 out of 10 people.

I'm confused, do you lend your monitor out too?

I've lent the kit to 3 people who already have a 120Hz panel for gaming or where buying the panel anyway. The rest have tried it over my place.

I find, one first go, people find it straining and can't make the most out of it at all.

It takes time to train your eyes, then you can start increasing the depth and separation. It can offer very different types of 3D. When you see beyond your monitor or experience pop out from the monitor.

is this all you do mate, every time i open a thread youv got something to say about 3D,we all know you have it/we all know you dont like it,but must you keep going from thread to thread slagging the the thing off, grow up pal

He hasn't 'slagged' it off. He has merely added his own findings. If someone else likes it then fair enough. :)

I think it would be much more worth it if there was more movies and tv shows made in 3D.

Most people who have tried it have adapted to it pretty quickly only my mum out of the people who used it complained of headaches and stopped using it almost immediatly.

I ended up selling mine.

Have to agree with Roff really. For me personally, it was just a gimmick. I didn't suffer any headaches, but did get the tired eyes feeling after several hours with it.

Someone also mentioned Avatar and the very underwhelming effect, I have to agree with that also. It was like, "Oh cool", but overall didn't really add to my enjoyment of the film after the first few 3D effects. I certainly won't be paying any extra to go and see another 3D film.

As so many other people have commented already, there are a lot of other areas where ATI/nVidia could be concentrating over stuff like PhysX and 3D vision.

Given that the only post about the matter of this discussion says that the ATI 6 series will still require third party mid software/drivers to operate, I assume that trying to trade a 5850 with a 470 will be a sensinble option especially when 1920x1080 will be the resolution I will play (or 1680x1050 if I decide to get a Viewsonic monitor at 22") yes?

Has anyone any experience using 470 on 3D on these resolutions? Or SLI is the only route?

Or has someone used the 3rd party 3D drivers for ATI on a 5850/5870?

My GTX470 @ 800MHz is perfectly smooth in 3D Vision at 1680x1050 on the Samsung 2233rz. You can generally reduce the amount of AA used as well in 3D Vision compared to normal 3D which helps performance.

dont comment on something if you dont know what ur talking about,as i said he is going thread to thread saying the same things over and over, theyr is no need for it ,he made his point the first time, thats all im saying,he has already been told off for it

Well if you take that view we should close every new post about 3D Vision and direct them back to the first ever post made about it... I don't see how what I'm doing is any different from someone else posting their opinion on 3D Vision in each new thread.

Could I ask you what is wrong with stating an opinion on a topic? Just because personal findings may not support the consensus or majority's ideas does that make them invalid in some way?

There is nothing wrong with a user posting their past experiences in a new thread (even if it's the same stuff posted previously) when a question is asked. The op to that topic may or may not have had time to read through any of the similar topics

I am entitled to my opinion.

With regard to this thread and others, anyone is allowed to express their views on a subject, that's all there really is to it.

Your posts to me read as slightly aggressive, opinionated etc.

Learn to share space. :D

You still sound aggressive and biased to me, hash70. You haven't answered any of my points.

You do have the option of contacting a mod if you wish. :)

Btw I think you are supposed to fully star out swear words.

I can't really help it if people don't like my opinion and get upset... I try to lay out as unbias and objective an opinion as possible based on my experience I certainly don't have the intention of upsetting anyone.

I could understand your viewpoint a little more if I actively went out my way to rubbish 3D Vision at every turn out of hand without ever having actually tried it for myself. I don't even have an entirely negative view of it.
