##Atomic Heart thread##

not grabbed me at all. Probably gonna be an uninstall by the weekend I would rather have the 100gb hd space

Taken from the games Wikipedia page

"Controversy

Mundfish has been accused of harvesting users' data and providing it to Russia's security services.[14] The developer denied the allegations. The game has also become subject of significant controversy due in part of its anticipated release date, which nearly coincides with the first year anniversary of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Critics had questioned the timing of the release of a game featuring Soviet and Russian military themes."

This plays and looks incredible on PC.I'm getting 50-60fps(could be more but I can only get max 60fps) 4k max settings dipping into the 40s occasionally for a split second on my 6800

PC game pass,I just changed my location to New Zealand in the windows settings to try it,but for some reason my PS5 controller is acting weird on the game,so I'll try it again tomorrow

Played some 4 hours so far and finding it fantastic. Great creativity on display, awesome gunplay feel, immense atmosphere and immersion. Of course playing in russian VO.
Playing on TV, 4K, DLSS quality all maxed, never dropped a frame below vsynced 60.

This has ended up being a bit of a surprise having now played it. I can see even if they enable RT in it that it will still run great given how good the game currently runs and looks. No RTGI needed I'd say based on the artstyle used, but instead RT reflections and RTAO - So a minimal fps impact with RT use.

Anyways, the game defaulted to the Epic profile, I had to enable Reflex and DLSS, although without DLSS the game can still run around 100fps but fluctuate from 75 and up basically at 3440x1440. DLSS on Quality results in always above 100fps and closer to 144-175fps in many cases. There are a few frametime graph spikes here and there but they are so minimal it's not even worth talking about. very impressed by that.

Mouse movement seems very good, very smooth too and even though there's no hardware cursor option, it feels instant with Reflex enabled and there's no feeling of mouse acceleration which is something I don't like in games.

Oh and it ships with DLSS version 3.1.1 out of the box, which was another surprise.

If they patch in RT reflections at the minimum, then that would fix the screen space reflection LOD "pop-in" bug I noticed right away lol:

But as for the rest, looks neat, was impressed that this lady's face sun bathing mirror thing reflected the world behind even:

Apparently the game has an upgrade robotic kiosk where you go to upgrade your character and this robot has a female voice and it is constantly (like all the time) throwing sexual jokes at you, the kiosk wants you to absolutely bang it and some reviewers hate it

Looking forward to playing after work.

Still not sold on RT mind, I really don’t like that wet floor look.
There is no RT, the reflective floor looks normal and could be real life. If you've ever been to a Cineworld cinema then you will have seen this in the flesh as their floors are highly reflective too.

Edit*
Played a bit more and yeah FOV slider or config file edit needed to give a wider fov. Even on ultrawide it feels to enclosed.

The main protagonist is annoying as hell and the writing/delivery is poor imo. Maybe it gets better. Huge disparity between areas too, some are stunning, others seem unfinished.

I'll try to make my point a little better.

I feel game artists make too many floors in the most polished materials they can, or they make outside be "just after the rain" - it's like an excuse to get it in there to show off the tech.

Again this is just my opinion on it. I think RT has been around long enough now for devs to stop looking for excuses for places to put it and just use it sparingly.

Having said that I think the leaking of info to the Russian government is bunkum, I just realised the significance of the release date ..

Shiny floors? More like sticky carpets :p
