Attack on NI military base

I really just meant that it's all localised. Not just that it's Armagh.

Although there are more loyalist paramilitaries in Armagh than any of the other counties, am I right?

I don't know about the figures but Portadown and Craigavon have very high Loyalist paramilitary activity. Lurgan is pretty much LVF headquarters.

I just hope the Loyalist paramilitaries don't retaliate for these attacks. If they do, we're back to the same old crap of years gone by.

i just hope they werent planning anything for that loacl school. whens st. paddys day? cos i expect if it rira theyll want to celebrate with something big...

They are not going to blow up a school.

It may have been them who called it in to get the police there

I doubt that'll happen to be honest, I reckon loyalists will hope that the police/army get invloved so that they can then say they are best and try to command the government of NI.

It was a call to a Dublin based newspaper using "a recognised codename".

Did you read the entirety of the quoted post?

There was a discussion on here a while back about NI, in Speakers Corner if I'm not mistaken. I posted the results of the police investigation from the 90s by (IIRC) the then chief-constable Sir John Stevens, which uncovered significant collusion by the British state agencies with Irish terrorists. It was ignored and the thread had no replies after that post.

Viewing this in a historical context, I'm not inclined to blame "dissident IRA groups" because they have very little to gain from such a move. However it does seem to me that these incidents will justify further British operations and a possible return to open conflict.

This is 2009 btw.

How many years did you live in NI during the troubles? Or are all your arguments based on what little info reaches the mainland, plus a little hearsay and bravdo from ex-squaddies?

Um firstly, tatics work no matter what decade your in, if they work they work.
Secoundly i was pointing out a well documented tactic and no i wasnt their during the troubles but i have both uncles that were intell officers in N.I. Intell Dep.
And the ct training i have had points to this tactic.
And yes i know its 2009, please post revelant posts instead of trying to insult everyones intelligance

So you're saying the Brits are behind it?

Their weapons were almost certainly stolen from old PIRA arms dumps.
Quite possible as some of the senior figures in the dissident groups were likely quite high up in the original pira ranks, and would know the location of theese arms dumps. although i remember several rira men being arrested for importing weapons from the former yugoslavia, so they could have access to greater numbers of weapons.

Same guys that did omagh not exactly all their upstairs.

You have a point, but they won't blow up that particular school.

Dude you're making the fatal mistake of trying to tell Norn Irish folk how it is in their own country.

Stories from your uncles won't cut it.
