Attention Samsung HDD owners!!!

That's incorrect. I RMA'd a Seagate drive to Coventry on the 16th December:

It was received on the 19th and a replacement shipped on the 22nd.

This, I had a Maxtor to send off for work before Christmas. The RMA turnaround was quick and kept me well informed. You get a choice of depots you can post it to - sure, you can send it direct to Holland if you want but it's cheaper and almost as quick to send it to the UPS pick-up point in the UK.

Still, sad to see Samsung being gobbled up by Seagate. Every Seagate I've owned (6 drives from 7200.8 up to 7200.11) has died within three years, whilst I've seen an acceptable 20% failure rate on my Samsungs (Owned around 12 F1's) over the same lifespan.

Just thought I'd post in here with a bit of info for those looking to check the warranty on their Samsung drives.

Seagate has a new samsung page on their site

Seems the transfer is complete and you can now check the warranty of your Samsung drive on Seagate's website.

Just checked a few and they show up fine accepting the serial number.

Tried this for my two samsung drives the other day, (1TB F3 and 320gb F1). Nothing at all came up when i submitted the details. Both drives were well within warranty when i checked, that was just a few days before they died about 4 months ago.

So they were replaced? Could be they gave you replacements with no warranty then. Mine are showing up fine, and my older ones out of warranty appear on there too.

Nope, they were drives i bought on members market, (dont know if this would affect it or not). But they did show up fine on the samsung warranty checker earlier this year, march iirc. That was prior to both failing (a few months ago).
