Audi owners in here!

Well I've picked up my new-to-me A6 3.0 TDI Le Mans!

Very pleased with it so far coming from my Mondeo :D

Quattro isn't some sort of amazing anti snow magic, it just lets you spin all the wheels rather than just two of them. You'll still get stuck fairly easily on snow without the correct tyres.

LoL Yes I often see Chelsea tractors and their drivers trying to brake or accelerate with their 4 wheel drive.

Andi.

No one will probably be interested but 2 months into ownership my A3 TFSI has cost me a fair few quid. Its had
New xenon Bulbs (£140)
Refurb ballasts (£200)
Diverter valve (£45)
Rear wiper motor (£75)
Rear wiper arm (£25)
Fuel pump cam follower (£35)
Got stuck in the snow up a steep hill even with Quattro wheels were just spinning but the clutch was stinking so that will probably be next job although not slipping yet
the A3 quattro isint permanent 4 wheel drive though.
it has the haldex differential and lots of electrical sensors and yaw controllers to tell it when to put power to the rear wheels.

when your throwing it into a corner its great at putting power down to what end needs it to get you round the corner without putting you into the scenery but there useless in the snow..

my skoda Octavia scout was the same. hence why I went for the A4 quattro with permanent 4 wheel drive this time.

I had a 2002 Leon Cupra 4 with Haldex and it was brilliant in snow.
Did you have winter tyres?

The Haldex with ESP enabled is pretty useless, I've always turned it off when the snow has been bad or I get a little stuck.

Really? I went snowboarding in Norway over New Year and it was fine.
Again though, tyres > driven wheels.

That is true, Michelin PSS aren't brilliant in the snow :p Mine just doesn't seem to be as good with ESP enabled when in the snow and it's more difficult.

guys, looking to get an A4 Avant in the next couple of months. Budget is £10K. Has to be diesel as I do a fair amount of milage. At that budget I'm looking at 58/59 plate examples so is there anything to look out for problem wise? I'd prefer the 170bhp version but will settle for the 140.

make sure it has been properly serviced. if its been a non dealer garage make sure they have used the correct oil.
weve just traded the wifes 55 plate 140 passat in and shes went for a new seat leon 1.6tdi 110bhp

it doesnt go as well as the old passat but she prefers it..

ill stick with my old A4
