Audi owners in here!

No point going from my Civic to one of those. I am on a huge money saving exercise so every spare penny can go into completing any alterations to my house within a year. Then I can have a nice brand new/near new car, at last :)

I've seen a couple of 2.0 140BHP TDI's at good money but I'm wary of turbo's going on them as they're at cheapo dealers, I've called up and they can't tell me much about the cars. On the Autotrader there is a 2.0 140BHP 2004 diesel @ £2295 (it's a light blue SE model if anyone wants to find it) which does sound OK though and although the seats aren't very bucketed they are leather so do look OK. Could likely get that for 2k.

EDIT. The Blue One.

MOT history isn't brill for that one on the last MOT so would likely need sorting in May. The 1.9TDI I mentioned has zero advisories for years and will come with 12 months MOT also. Also 56 plate so newer, just not as refined/powerful an engine.... hmm.

Very nice :) The Driver Assistance Pack is very rare. I've used mine a few times on the M25 and it will literally drive itself in stop/start traffic, but does require you to touch the steering wheel every 15 seconds or so.

The new Q7 in the flesh appears more dated than the outgoing model. Interior is wonderful however.

The headlamps are amazing to watch turning elements on and off as the road changes, they are also linked to the sat nav...

I've got a TT mk2 and have the well documented crappy glovebox hinge that's snapped, making the whole compartment a royal pain to use. Due to this, anyone had any experience trying to fix it DIY? Spoke to Audi directly and they want to sell me a whole new glove box at like £250 which is bloody stupid. My car just went to MOT and one of the guys there recommended that I go to a breaking place locally and put my name down for taking one out of the next TT they get in but these places also want silly money at £150 plus. Surely there's an easy fix to this? Help!

I'm on the verge of agreeing a PCP deal for one of these for delivery in March. Really good family car I reckon. Seriously expensive once optioned up with air suspension, Audi cockpit, advanced key, etc. etc. but lovely pieces of kit.

I expect it'll be around £650 per month.

About to dump 30 od k on a c6 RS6 avant again :(

They hold there money so well

Nice!

I'm afraid I bottled it buying a B7 RS4. Scary MPG and even scarier repair bills put me off.

Went for a completely reliable 16 year old imported Impreza. What could possibly go wrong :D

MPG isn't that bad and also what do you expect from a 4.2 litre V8? Again repair bill's aren't that bad... They are quite reliable apart from the suspension issues which if on the V3 DRC system should mostly be fine.

It does indeed seem to be a very rare option. Odd when quite a lot of cars now are getting it as standard (Tiguan, new Superb etc). I've seen a couple with the assistance pack but previously only on ones that are £35k+

I've watched a couple of videos on them and am excited to try them. It will be weird not having to flick between main/dipped beams any more though.

Looking to put down about 25K on either an 8P RS3 or an 8V S3. Haven't test drove either yet just wondering if the RS3 is special enough in comparison to the S3. RS3's seem to be holding there value slightly better too. Thoughts?

The 5 cylinder engine make is much more " special " while the S3 is nice it just doesn't sound as good :)

Just passed 90k on my TTRS, meaning I've done 30k in around 26 months. Been a while since I was on here. Currently it's stage 1, upgraded rear brakes, forge intercooler, forge silicone hoses, secondary cat bypass. Has the factory option leather bucket seats too. Had an alloy refurbed not long back and you'd really struggle to tell that it's an almost 100k mile car.

Here's a pic from the other day after I'd gone round the back roads home! (It's been cleaned today :D)

When are you going for stage 2 or beyond? :D

The 1.9 TDI is really terrible - don't do it! I know you'll gloss over what i say as I reckon every 4 pot diesel is terrible but this one genuinely is terrible. It was great in 2001, not so much now. I'm surprised it was even carried into the A3 - it was only available as a very entry level car.

It does rather depend what you expect from it. If you want reliability and fuel economy, they are great. If you are doing BIG miles and want something to get the job done, they are great. But if you want something well rounded which you can have some fun with, there are better options if you insist on getting a diesel. They are pretty unrefined and the power delivery is... Well it feels like a very old turbo diesel, its all in a big lump and it doesn't really do anything to disguise it or smooth it out. :p

The 2.2 Duratorq TDCI in the work transit is much better to drive, which is quite embarrassing/annoying really, but its a brand new van with an engine which was released in 2008, so it should be! My engine was released in about 1995 I think? Its a non PD one, but the PD engine in Dads A6 feels identical to drive, albeit with slightly different gearing.

When it comes to alloys my knowledge is terrible. Trying to browse thousands of ebay and gumtree ads to find a half decent set of alloys that will fit my A4 B6 avant is baffling me.

Basically I'm after a decent condition second hand set of alloys preferably 18" with decent tyres on. I think two of mine may be corroded/buckled as they have slow punctures. So would rather buy a second hand set than get a refurb and new tyres.

Help!

Surely a quality refurb will fix any buckling or corrosion though making a refurb of yours with new tyres a good option?

This is probably what I'd do, as the likelihood of finding a set on ebay or similar which doesn't require a refurb anyway is going to be quite slim.

Either that or you'll end up buying b8 or b9 alloys, the style of which won't really suit, and the cost of which will easily outweigh refurbishing and reshodding your own.

Unless of course you plan on owning two sets (a winter set and a summer set for example, this is what I had for my A4).

Refurb will be minimum £240 and new tyres on top is £360, which yes will be nice refurbed wheels with brand new premium tyres. But it's £600.

If I could get a decent set second hand with decent tyres on for £300 I'd be happy, can live with a few curb marks.

I think you are asking too much for too little £.

A decent set (a set that aren't curb rashed to the point of looking downright disghusting), with tyres that are a) of a premium brand, and b) have enough tread left to be worthwhile, are going to cost £450+, and still won't be perfect.

You might just about squeeze what you want out of the purchase if you drop to 17".
