Audi owners in here!

xD thought have just seen this one on there now:
http://www.audi.co.uk/used-cars/use...rsfield/603055203-46362.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_
(hope link works)
sounds similar to the other car, little older and 10k more miles but from first glance similar spec. have to have a closer look... might be a better choice as from audi? (also audi lie.... huddersfield is not 169 miles from me! even as a straight line lowest mileage i get is 222miles :p )

I saw that one, but it has no MMI so I didn't bother linking to it ;)

so except for the lack of MMI it would get your approval? ;) as depending on how it looks (enquiry sent about pics) I'd prefer this as it does have more spec after a closer look for the same price and that piece of mind of main dealer sold.

Quality is OK, not as good as my previous generation S3 but still good. The flat bottomed steering wheel is a must as the standard realy is rather bland! The RNSE although isn't brilliant does seem to help with re-sale value. The Bose system can be a bit of a pain with the mic automatically adjusting the volume. This cannot be disabled and has to be physically disconnected. This only affects some models and it seems like most to be honest.

The brakes in my opinion aren't brilliant and they were terrible on my track day. The calipers are large along with the disc's but they really aren't great but i suspect a good pad combination will aid this.

I've had a stage 1 remap and I've got a Revo race intake which is a fantastic bit of kit with good gains. A stage 1 remap apparently yields up to 310hp, but I will be going Stage 2+ so between 350-370hp.

I think I've had it about 4/5 months now and in that time I've had to replace one rear spring (£80), rear discs and pads (£107), Cam follower (£24 common fault with the tfsi engines), Uprated OEM Diverter valve (£40), Two new front tyres due to pot holes (£130 for PS3's) and a rear wheel bearing (£300 ish)

Most of it general wear and tear with the engine parts just replaced because they are cheap and for piece of mind.

Major service was £249 at a specialist.

Sounds like a reasonable car to live with.

I've spotted a few 2010/2011 ones. They look so tempting at the moment. Will no doubt end up being my next car.

Thanks

Right I went back for a test drive of an SE Technik with the 136 TDIe, all was lovely as expected, but then in the showroom we also had a look at a 2.0 143 TDI black edition. When priced the monthlies and deposit will be basically the same, as they will throw an extra grand the black as its in stock if I finance g a factory SE Technik with xenons headlights apparently will have to be ordered.

I am now left a bit confused and wondering what to go for, the black has the MMI but no sat nav, sat nav isn't essential to me. The 143 2.0 isn't the eco desiel version, but probably isn't too far off it? Its an older gen of engine I think, and as far as I can tell will be due for replacement next year?

Thoughts please?

Black ed is basically a tarted up S Line. The engine is current and is fine. I think it comes with dab and BO stereo too. Its a no brainer bud. The BE all day long.

Whoa whoa whoa, if the black has no sat nav, it DOES NOT HAVE MMI. Don't be fooled by the startup images, or any sales patter, it's a crappy old system, more akin to a fancy radio than a proper infotainment system.

The SE Technik has far more kit as standard if you can overlook the body kit. You need to throw a lot of money at a black edition to spec it up.

Hmm, the one I saw had AMI, not MMI, the B&O sound had the xenons, the steering wheels, that sort of gubbins, and as far as I could tell had the advanced parking assist. The only thing it didn't have was the satnav, is this right? The MMI screen is there but the satnav is not?
It was also getting them to knock 6k off the price, a grand more than the technik.

Last chance to buy a used proper one instead of a dreary 2 litre diesel just because its new :p

Still pondering that but the discount they throw at the new ones is immense.
Covers more than the interest paid in the monthly's.

If its just driveway bling you want then you might as well buy new, but surely this sort of car is just a better package with a decent engine in it rather than an engine that exists purely to lower monthly payments.

Don't get confused between the normal radio (which has a screen anyway, all b8s have a screen), which is low resolution and has rubbish features (and the controls are up on the dashboard by the aircon), and the two variants of MMI (SD based and HDD based) which have the controls by the gear stick.

The radio systems are incredibly basic, and whilst they do have the option of AMI, that is it for extended features. You'll never be able to add sat nav, you'll never get the advanced car integration features, the system is slow, clunky and has a tendency to lock up with newer iOS devices.

MMI is a must in my opinion if buying new.

I hear what you are saying Fox, but I will end up driving less than 50 miles a week in it, the wife will be doing all the driving. So choice of engine isn't a big priority for me bar keeping cost reasonably low.

Ahhh, that's very good info.
Would have caught me out, guess that's why he was extra keen to discount it more heavily.

Right then with the SE Technik, services are going to be every 18000 is that right? and an interim every 9000? Services £159 and £305. Did any of you go for the monthly service agreements?
Tyres are 225/50 r17, a new tyre will cost about £200 a piece for a decent make, or am I massively out in ballpark?

Also the satnav used to be disc based, now it is hard drive based, can this be updated manually from time to time, or would that be a service cost issue for new routes etc?

ok so seen a car but it's 4.5 hours away, was 99% gunna go for it but it's a fair chunk of cash :\ I think I just have a hard time parting with big chunks of money as I do usually think of worst case scenarios :p but also a good point raised by my bro in-law... i''ve checked with swansea audi if i buy this car from a different audi dealership can i take it there for warranty work and to be checked out and i was told i would have to discuss the problem with the selling dealership first and then they would have to talk to swansea audi and discuss the work and negoticate it or what ever and then have to give swansea the go ahead to do the warranty work...

so I could still be ending up having to take it 4.5 hours away to get work done to it :\ which isn't appealing! waiting to hear back from the selling dealer to get their take on the situation.

why do nice things have to cost so much xD !?!?!? seen a car on auto trader for much more appealing monies (under £11k) but it's done 110000 miles... apparently motorway miles as only been owned by one company.
VVVV but wondering if it would be getting to the point where lots of stuff is going to be worn and needing replacing :\ so few cars to choose :(
