Audi owners in here!

Talking about xenons, anyone recommend a brighter/whiter bulb for an A5? I posted it in the show us your car thread rather than in here, sorry.

Fox as you stated in the other thread, light output peaks at around 4300k, is it worth changing them or just leaving them stock? I don't really want to lose light output for the sake of them being a bit whiter if that's the case.

Are they factory Xenons? I would leave them alone if they are.

No way were the 8P's putting out 290 in standard form. The new S3's even as standard people are saying are faster than remapped 8P's. I like the interiors but the outside just doesn't afloat my boat, but then again when I had an 8L S3 I thought the same about the 8P.

You have an 8P I thought you would be well aware of the situation, owners checking stock figures around 290, its why Superchips had to up their remap at the time as it was pretty much useless.

As for people saying the new S3 is way faster than a modded 8P, well, of course thats going to be their opinion.

It's not way faster but it is defiantly quicker standard, Considering the book figures on the 8p auto was 5.5 to 60 and the 8v is 4.8 I know people have been getting 4.5 standard with launch control my old 8p with revo wouldn't get near!

Be interesting after 60 but the 8v is lighter than the old car.

Come on, you were spending what, £30k, if you've got £30k for a new Audi you've got what, the 900 quid they want for Xenons :p It makes SUCH a difference, you get the crap DRL's without the Xenons to. The front end of the car looks fantastic with the Xenons.

I am actually spending £25k (so I guess even Fox might find this a good deal!) and after a little bit of thinking I might add the xenons to the car too which are £1200! ;)

One, great looking car, the interior is a massive improvement. I think Audi could have been bolder with the exterior but its a very desirable car!

I am currently looking at this. I know it will only do 20mpg at best, and needs atleast a Milltek to sound right, but still, full spec except for cruise control which is £200 at Audi dealers....

20mpg at most, with a lead foot maybe!

My average since owning one is approx 28mpg per 10k miles and regularly get over 30 on a run.

I'd also struggle to pay 9k for one, too much for one of those imho.

Why the hell would a new shape S3 be a poor choice???

I test drove it last weekend.

Genuinely trying not to do the rose tinted glasses thing given my car is an M135i but I was really disappointed. It looks bland, except the four exhausts which are over the top. The engine note whilst one of the better sounding 4-pots isn't a patch on the BMW and whilst it felt fairly rapid it lacked that punch that really puts a grin on your face.

On the other hand I was impressed by the Quattro and there's no doubt it would embarrass me at the lights on a wet road. It also felt a little more refined inside and more leg room in the back. They had an old shape RS3 as well and that just looked so much more awesome and screamed that Audi show-room factor in your face, it's a shame the new shape S3 doesn't.

Thinking about sticking an RNS-E into the A3 as I keep changing my mind about replacing the car or not.

I'm happy enough getting one and fitting it but just don't know about any VCDS coding that may need to be done.

The car doesn't have bluetooth, steering controls etc or anything I can think that would need to be coded as such, although it does have DIS and BOSE so not sure if that matters.

Basically if I fit a unit will I need to do any coding or should it all work out the box?

So I've been informed that currently due to the impending release of the MK3 TT that you can quite widely get 5-6k off of the list price for brand new TT at the moment. I've never been tempted to buy a brand new car until now, as i've always thought you lose way too much money as soon as you drive it away, but with a 5-6k saving surely this wouldn't be nearly as bad?

Anyway my thinking was to get one of those 3 year finance deals where you have the option to pay the outstanding amount at the end or swap the car in for another new one. So what I could do is decide to swap it in after the 3 years and get another brand new, MK3 TT.

Am I mad or does this actually have a chance of working out ok for me?

Certainly an attractive discount....but the trouble with such discounts is that they will have a knock-on effect on the used market. After all, it is unlikely you can buy for say £25k (£30k - £5k discount) and find the used value is anything close to £25k still....

Of course it would be, the introduction of the new model will have a large downward effect on the value of the newer versions of the old model.

It is madness to spend so much money on a car which is now soundly in the four-figure price bracket for the earlier ones, IMHO.
