Audi owners in here!

So you didn't read the paperwork when you bought the car from SSC? Lol.

No it isn't, well the bodykit/wheels/turbo/4wd is the only difference. Not really much of a difference in my eyes.

No I wasn't there when it got bought, I paid the cash into my Dad's account who bought it for me and drove it home as he was up there on business (train up car down). I read the documentation on the Torpoint ferry :P That's when I found all the reciepts for the modifications and then realised I had to update my insurance policy from standard to modified.

Is there a way to set up specific alerts on Autotrader? I am ready to get into another 8p2 S-Line 2.0t FSI but I am very specific about what spec it has to have?

If you're using the app on a phone it'll let you save the search. Not quite the same as an actual alert but only takes two seconds to fire it up and check that way

So... my son is getting an early start for his 2nd Birthday :D

Might see if I can paint the black backing behind the wheels to look more like discs and maybe even paint the wheels Gunmetal so you can see them a bit better.

Had a ponderously poor result in MPG terms from the last tank of diesel in the car.
We range from 42-46 on average per tank, mostly short runs and town runs unfortunately, but the last tank of which I did precisely zero miles of the driving involved seemed to check in at 32MPG.
I know the weather has been poor, and various other factors but that seems an insane drop based over the course of an entire tanks worth of fuel. Car seems to be running as normal.

Guys
Some advice from the Audi contingent please!
I am not really up on Audi's current product line as I have been looking in other directions (SUVs among other things..). But given the budget I have (been allowed) for a "fast" family car, which I can also enjoy on trips and round the mountains, I have started looking at new RS4 Avants and S6s. My first choice of AMG equivalents are way over budget.

Both are around the same price here.. Of course the S6 is a bit nicer inside and more comfortable.. but the Avant has more practical use and will certainly be more unique here as no one buys Estates, only SUVs. This may hit me on resale, but I am not too worried about that now.

Main use will be urban, and I wont be carting a lot of stuff around day to day, but I will be carrying a small child, a lot. I may also do some track days, mountain drives and occasional longer road trips.

Either car will come with 3 year warranty but no free servicing. Fuel costs don't concern me, but servicing costs might (if I kept it out of warranty , which I probably wouldn't). Which options must be ticked to get the most out of it without increasing the cost by silly amounts (I don't need B&O Stereo and Carbon brakes.. but what about Sports Suspension Plus, DRC etc)

No test drives yet, will try and schedule that for next week.

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated. Cheers

Having spent a lot more time in an RS4 recently, I'd rather have an AMG equivalent by a long stretch - even if it cost me ten grand more. The RS4 just really isn't very good, just never feels as good as it needs to and has a slightly curious powertrain. Steering's pretty dire too, as is the ride, and the only time it's fun is if you've got it absolutely pinned on the autobahn.

Disappointing news.. but thanks, I appreciate the feedback. ;)

In terms of the numbers. the S6 and RS4 are both 53k here with some options included, which is my budget. Whereas an E63 is starting at 75k (no performance pack, etc) and the C63 ranges between 48k until 68k for the edition 507. But If I was going for a C I would wait for the next generation, and as the AMG is always a bit behind, maybe that's a year+?

Merc doesn't sell estates here either.

Any thoughts on the S6?

cheers

FYI my other options were a Grand Cherokee SRT, used ML500 or a used Cayenne S/GTS.

Used E63?

Ideally that's what I would have. But a 2012 E63 with 10k miles on it will still be 57k minimum, and will probably be pre-owned by a pipe smoking 18 year old sandal drifter.. :D If I go down to 2010s there will be no warranty left, which is important for me.

Also, I am putting half cash down, and financing he rest, which is much easier and cheaper to do on a new car.

Looking at reviews I really didn't think the RS4 was so bad.. guess I need to drive it myself before ruling it out though. But any other suggestions welcome.

cheers

Anyone know if the roof rails can be easily removed on this?

It has all the spec I want except for Xenons which are rare and cruise control which is cheap to retrofit, and has the worst Bose headunit which is a good thing really as it means you get a cup holder and makes it easier to fit an aftermarket one. I have a P99RS but no longer have all the amps and speakers I used to have (the P99RS does not have any onboard amplification). Car is pretty cheap, I would ideally want an 07 with less miles but not many 8P2 Lava Grey 5 doors come up with the right spec.

Will potentially need a cam belt doing this year (Audi say every 5 yrs minimum, VAG as a whole say every 4 years).

DSG service is due every 40k IIRC, so next one in 9k.

Doesnt look like a BOSE HU either, just looks like a concert - which isnt a bad thing if you dont want one :)

No idea about roof rails, sorry.

Audi have actually changed petrol engines to 75k or every four years whichever is soonest which is probably best!

I've decided i need bluetooth audio in my life (A6) for spotify on my galaxy S4. What's the cheapest way of doing it? I've looked at Xcarlink and GROM. Any other options?

It's an A6 (C6) with Bose and MMI 2G high
