Audi RS5

So buy a used one, mine was 80k 2 years old minimal miles, they dont feel heavy to drive.
They are great cars don't get me wrong, but I'd prefer to buy new with a full warranty. Although they do disguise their weight well, in the mountains there's no hiding it.

I suppose your snow is worse than Kent snow, anyway enjoy whatever you buy :)

Shame the Rapide isn't 4WD.

In all honesty the RS5 doesn't appear to have any competition here when
4WD is a must.

It's either RS5 or change tact and spec a different barge - ML500 with sport pack and AMG goodies - £60k at a guess.

out of budget but how about a unimog, lets face it, you won't get any better in the snow,......or mud......or mountains, infact pretty much any terrain, just a shame about it's 55mph top speed. :D

The GTR is impressive, but its attraction is only performance. I have a performance car.

This is something more practical. Just been reading about the Panamera gearshift and there is talk of it being changed. Trouble is when you spec a Panamera 4S it's easy to tip over £100K. The RS5 fully loaded is more like £75K.

The GT-R is a bigger car inside than the RS5 but has a smaller boot. Rear seats are the same size with the same legroom, i.e bugger all if you have 4 adults in the car. £70K is bang on the money as well. Both are full leather, sat nav, keyless etc etc. Audi is nicer on the inside in my opinion but the GT-R can hold it's own, not like the old Jap interiors. The kicker is that the GT-R has a button that says "Snow". Audi will be more compliant, the GT-R will be embarrassingly quicker. Both can go full auto for dawdling, the box on the GT-R when pushing on is superb.

Horses for courses and all, but seeing as we are talking a tiny selection of cars that meet the criteria (which the GT-R fulfills), no harm in giving it a go.

Personally, I think the Bentley is bang on.

Am I alone in thinking the panamera is awesome?!

If I had a family and 90k to drop on a car, I'd spend it on one in a heartbeat.

But they aint a patch on a Bentley.

When they drop to 60/70k they will be a good used buy till then 100k not for me.

If I had to spend time in the back, the Panamera wins. For everything else, I'd take the Bentley though I believe the Panamera Turbo is a bit of a beast in the ground covering ability.

I'll just leave this here...VDC on (for normal people) and off (for fun).

I had a non turbo Panamera for a a day, good car no denying it, and for sitting in the back better job, but it hasnt got the sense of occasion and it just dosent drive as well as a Bentley, and at 100k plus, sod it, i dont sit in the back anyway:)

Did you see my rugs in the new one by the way Fett, i thought of you when i saw them?

I just cannot over how ugly they are in the metal and I liked them in the press shots. Still, that's totally subjective, no denying the kit.

Lush. Now tell me they aren't worth every penny sitting there under your loafers. Very nice.

That is damn impressive.

I completely agree with what you saying as well how a GTR will embarras an RS5 on any stretch of road with ease.

I guess it depends what Spie wants, but for me with those Mountain roads to enjoy I'd want the car that will do them in the quickest manner and at the same time be the most fun. Well for me it would be no contest the GTR would destroy an RS5 on such roads, it would not be remotely close and in the GTR it would be more fun and involving too. People mock the GTR for been like a playstation, but having driven both the GTR and S5, all I can say is the GTR was hugely more fun and so much more capable.

I'd only been buying the Audi if it was for image, sound and overall build quality and I can understand the Audi wins there, but my priorities would be the cars ability and how fun/involving it was to drive and the GTR easily masters the RS5 at such. :)

P.S. Fett what average/combined MPG you seeing from your GTR?

I know you loved your Q7s spie, is this to replace them ?

Can't see the RS5 being a patch on the Q7 tbh :(

Not as roomy, not as capable off road, and not that good to drive according to the reviews.
