Some images my bothers and I took from different locations in the UK this evening.

When you're trying to see this, do you have to sit there for ages waiting for something to flash, or will it just be there if it's going to be?

I woke up at 3am so had a look outside, but nothing there.

It's just there. Often it's only visible in long exposure photos, although the other month it was visible to the naked eye where I was which was pretty sick.

For us, we were out taking pictures when it was a lower aurora release and during that, it ramped up and i couldn't see anything by eye at first, just on my phone, and then a massive red curve appeared in the sky by eye and you didn't need the camera to see it.

Most people can probably see if by eye at the point I could only see it on pictures taken, depending on where you live, but we were just out at the right time and it sounds like it was a very rare occurance to hit above 1500!
