Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

News of the world you say? erm... okay...

"Shock News! Hamilton Promoted to 3rd!" <- yes, the NOTW have got even less of a clue than everyone else...

Any more papers to make fun of??

Incidentally, there is a comment in the BBC video article about lewis be dq'd from race 1,where it is mentioned that 'further action may be taken' or words to that effect

Well, if LH was DQ from the entire season I couldn't really see McLaren continuning to bother at all (at a loss with no revenue to gain?) so would withdraw? Or is that not true?

still the WCC. If i were lewis though id say a "rather bad swear word" you, and leave F1 for good and head to america or something.

That would depend on if they would have him. Also i don't know what control the WMC would have on racing in the US.
Also Hamilton would no doubt find himself in breach of contract with McLaren so get the **** sued out of him.
Also there must be a reason drivers try to come from the US to F1 and don't really try to go the other way. I think it would be money.

I read on the Dutch site nu.nl that Dave Ryan is suspended by McLaren for his part in the debacle

http://www.nu.nl/sport/1943269/mclaren-schorst-teammanager-dave-ryan.html (In Dutch :p )

Hmmmm that's pretty much an admission of guilt imo. If McLaren did think nothing was done wrong in the stewards room, then why suspend someone for their actions?

Yup, suspending Ryan does imply he really did try and pull a fast one.

I'm baffled. What on earth were they thinking?

They have made a complete **** of this from start to finish. Now nothing looks truthful. The stewards meeting or even what Whitmarsh came out and said afterwards.

Even if they did think oh we pulled a fast one and got caught, they shouldn't draw attension to it. Just move along and hope it will go away. Suspending Ryan is the 2nd most stupedest thing they have done in this whole debacle. And some folk still think the FIA are the bad guys.

How clueless is Whitmarsh?
Today (From the beeb) -Whitmarsh said Ryan had not been "entirely full and truthful with the answers he gave [to the stewards], so we had not alternative but to suspend him".

Yesterday (from autosport) - "There was no lie in that hearing," said Whitmarsh

Someone needs to fire whitmarsh. I bet Ron Dennis will be going nuts and seriously considering taking over in Malysia.

Ahhh sorry. I know, 1 race in and 1 championship point, lets face it the big competitors are Red Bull and Ferrari still, and they finished with bugger all.

Yup. And 4th from a race where they started 18th was a damn fine performance from Hamilton already.

I wonder whether it was Ryan who told Hamilton to let Trulli through? Maybe he was trying to cover for his screwup on that?

Even if it was, the FIA wouldn't have bothered i don't think with the let him through, and they would just have ignored it i dare say. McLaren are only being punished for the lie, not their actions.
