Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

current plan is a small amount of sleep, wake up to watch p3 and quali, go back to sleep again then wake up in time to watch the England footie....loving this weekend at the moment

Barrichello has been faster in pre-season testing and in the practise sessions at the Aussie GP, so far. He also outpeformed Button last year. Based on that, I would say that if a BrawnGP car will win, its more likely to be Barrichello (barring accidents, DNFs, extraordinary incidents, etc).

I'm not quite sure where this confidence in Button's ability is coming from, given that the last time he drove a good race was a long time ago.

Still, lets see what happens. Button could well prove his doubters wrong.

yea as i said earlier barrichello has tended to be faster than his team mates for the majority of his extremly long career he certainly doesnt lack the speed and experience needed, if any brawn driver takes the championship its surely going to be him.

I want to stay up to watch P3 but I know I'll never make it up for Quali if I do... And I don't want to get too tired tonight because then I'll not stand a chance to see the race on Sunday... Really got to pull myself to bed :(:p

Should be excellent.

That's what I'm intending to do. Going to sky+ qauli just encase I fall asleep. butt been on nights all week, so hopefully I'l make it. Just got to find something to do for 4hours.

To be honest until we get into a race situation, where drivers are fighting for track position [in dirty air] nobody knows what will happen in the 1st race. We have a rough idea from Jerez testing and simulator runs what the effects will be on our cars but, we still can not be 100%.

Race day will really sort the men from the boys, we have a quick car [diffuser issue dependant] we were the fastest non "diffuser car" car but still have no idea how we can perform in a race situation. A lot still depends on the driver/setup.

again until it is in a race situation nobody can say. We know it can be very advantageous on a track like Silverstone due to the slow corners and long straights, same can be said for Spa to a certain extent but, the truth is nobody knows as yet.

would love to see it in proper use though. It can only be a good thing, as JRS says "F1 is meant to be the pinnacle " of motorsport.

boo hoo.. Hopefully next year then.

They were discussing it during last nights practise too... Suggesting that it'd make their job easier; How can they commentate if they don't know what is going on.

They suggested, or at least hoped, it'd come soon but I don't know what info they base it on.

I'm sure I read on Pitpass the other day though that the graphics were going through big improvements?

Oh it can be done. Im pretty sure that by next year or maybe even later this year, there will be some sort of indication as to when it is used. It mnay take the tv people a little longer to implement it though.

Just watching Practice 2 rerun... at 1hr 10 mins in you can hear an angle grinder going in the McLaren garage :D:D:D

And? Thats a perfectly normal tool to have at a race weekend. We regularly used to have welding gear and grinders and all sorts of other crap with us. If you dson't have it - sods law is you'll need it. :D

How good is KERS for the teams running it. Not much seems to of been said about it. Although I suppose no one knows until race day.

Not that useful - I'll get round to typing up all the notes I have at some point.

Also - isn't it nice to see the bitching starting so early this year....

why wasn't it included in the rules :(..

mine is kinda failing at the mo.

i watched all of last night, took my parents and sister to work. milled around the house and had a quick kip at lunch time. im now going to bed ready to get up at 5 for f1. yet im still awake. im tired but im like a kid at christmas. i want it now!!!

I will try to arrange realistic groups as we get closer to the time. the more info i have now the better.

I sent you off an email a little bit ago, definitely mega interested in a factory visit - and I work literally just round the corner, so I'm pretty local!

This is very much a possibility. Especially as we know that Trulli is a qualifying specialist.

I still feel that the BrawnGP cars are a little bit special right now, so I would go for Barrichello.

I think Rubens would be better in quali than Button, and you're right about Trulli. I've had £10 on him at 12/1 which I think is excellent value. I have work at 8.30, not sure whether to get up for it.. I love my sleep too much :o
