Australian Grand Prix 2010, Melbourne - Race 2/19

Observation: Schumacher looks completely out of his depth now.

Anyone agree?

I would agree with 'slightly' out of depth, the merc simply isnt that quick, the ferrari was able to overtake the torro rosso without much fuss but i would guess that the ferrari has a easy full second of peak pace open to it over the merc.

But the guy definelty needs to find a couple of tenths per lap.

I think the fact he went from 6th to 9th was puishment enough, yes it was an idiotic crash but it didn't (imo) deserve any real punishment.

As for Schumacher, as has been mentioned it's fairly obvious he got damage other than just the replaced front wing, and he is also still rusty. He's getting there but he still needs time to get back to being even close to what he used to be, if he's still being outqualified and struggling with toro rosso's by mid season then I'll think he's out of his depth, but I'm gonna give him some time at least :p

Great race, really enjoyed watching it.

Button - Was lucky to not come off worse when given no room by Alonso, but high 5 for taking out a double and a 7x world champion in that :p
Made a daring call, had me really worried when he slipped off but was very glad to see it work.

Hamilton - Some fantastic overtaking, love watching him drive. Hate hearing him whinge. The team made a call that could have worked well, we didn't know how much the tyres would fall off, Lewis could have potentially just skipped past the Ferraris and Kubica and come home in second behind Button. Who is to say that he would have coped on worn tyres? I don't think he would have been much quicker than the Ferraris.

Alonso - great drive from the back and did well to not let Lewis past.

Vettel - Going to be so dangerous when he gets a car that doesn't fall apart. Very fast.

Webber - Use you're damn breaks, you're not driving a toyota

Schumi - lol - made to look very average by the back runners :D

Wow, what a race.

But the aero problem is still visible, hamilton was catching at a rate of knots and started to go backwards when he hit the Ferraris turbulence. This needs sorting as its completely silly! I think there should be a standardised wing that gives x, y, z characteristics and then wider tyres/whatever to up the mechanical grip.

Also one set of tyres doing a race distance, what the hell is that all about? Ridiculous.

Otherwise after 3 hours sleep the race kept me awake, so not bad at all.
Webber is a first class tit tho :/

Mark Webber has apologised for crashing into Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages of the Australian Grand Prix and was subsequently reprimanded by the stewards as a result.

Vettel says mechanical problems 'break my balls'
"It's a shame as I think we had the race in total control at every stage, even though the conditions were difficult. It breaks my balls. We are all pushing and trying to do our best. It's nobody's fault, but we need to get on top of it and make sure that we see the chequered flag in Malaysia."

Irony??!
Michael Schumacher has pointed an accusing finger at Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso following qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.

Schumacher qualified in seventh in his Mercedes, but felt it could have been better had he been able to clear Alonso and Hamilton at vital times. The German was not happy with the matter and went as far as to seek out FIA representative Charlie Whiting to ask for a rules clarification.

"Basically on my last try, I was slowed down by him," Schumacher said of Alonso. "I asked him whether the team had told him, and he said 'no'.

I'm really glad Webber didn't get a penalty etc. Whilst it was stupid of him and contributed to ruining Lewis' race, it is stuff like this that makes it interesting!

Penalise for stuff like this and drivers will be too worries to race close to each other.

The Hamilton call was a tough one, he isn't exactly renowned for being kind to tyres and the fact Webber pitted for tyres about the same time after the pair of them had been driving like a bat out of a hell suggests to me that it's highly likely those tyres were set to go right off the boil.

Who knows, had he stayed out another 5-10 laps and realised that his tyres had gone it may have been too late to change effectively and make the time back and he'd have ended up maybe even further back than he was (before Webber punted him off)?

I'm not convinced Lewis would have made his tyres last like Jenson did considering the way he had been driving up to that point.
