Australian Grand Prix 2011, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/19

Trust me mate, we are doing nothing illegal. We are under the cosh from the FIA more than most [probably due to winning both championships and other teams moaning] but all we are doing is thinking out of the box.
according to the rule book its illegal.. im sure your aware what the rules say the fia test is just ridiculous and doesnt represent the real world its as outdated as bernie the no one has a hd tv lol theres no demand for it...

anyway i can imagine what you have coming up and it probably is more parts of your car that flex ... enjoy your wins if history is anything to go by it wont last much longer :p

Yep. I know. If you are passing all the tests...you are legal. Plain and simple.

It's sour grapes from others (fans & teams) if they can't replicate your idea. As I said, all F1 teams have had the entire Winter to think of ways to replicate the controlled flexing, so no F1 team has cause for complaint.

Now, what would be interesting is if RBR could control the flexing of other parts of their car. Conceivably, as the car reaches high speeds (eg 150 mph+), it would be beneficial for the car to change shape, into something more aerodynamic.

Why are you stopping at simply flexing the front wings? Why not flex the rear wings or the body work itself?

There is a very strong working relationship between CFD and Wind Tunnel, they bounce off of each other at a very alarming rate, i have known parts to go back and forth 3 or 4 times in a week before it even enters the tunnel, why? Because we have people covering all roles that recognise imperfections and indeed improve upon designs at every stage. We pretty much know what works and try to concentrate on that alone but, we quite often design/build something that does not give us what we would like.

This is why we have R&D, Modelshops and the like. If it gets to a full size component, trust me, it works.

According to the FIA it isnt and lets face it, that is what matters.

only because they cant be bothered to enforce the rule book and regulations properly, there test is outdated and doesnt represent race conditions , photo evidence clearly shows it flexed by more than the allowed amount.

aparently the newest merc nose twisted slightly under cornering so they are probably close to doing the same, once a few teams get it you know it will be banned

But thats not new is it? The FIA like a lot of sporting governing bodies arent the most proactive when it comes to ensuring teams follow the exact letter of the law - to be honest that really dark grey area is what F1 is all about and why I personally still watch it/have a taste for it, especially when some teams end up dying by the sword...

ps3ud0

Just means that their layup book for the nose or the nose pylons is a little light on pages. its called pushing the envelope. If teams didnt do it then we may as well go down the one engine one chassis route and have done with it.

Have to agree don't really like red bull as a team but they push the boundaries of the rules and they have to be appaulded for that. Jean todt got caught out doing with ferrari a few years ao didn't he?
I agree wit you nuts if you not allowed to do that then let's just have the same cars and race just like A1 racing

so when will your enforced sabatical begin CS||nuTs, 4:59:59 tomorrow?

My personal lockdown is now in the hands of CH as my role at Red Bull changed over winter [yes Gord you were right] but as it stands, i have a free hand as long as i do not reveal [ever notice how do not and doughnut are so similar] hmmmm doughnuts.......anyway i digress!

I am on orders,my posts are checked ,i can be repremanded/sacked over anything i say on the web.

So

yeh great!

Well it's good to have your insight while you can give it, glad you're on the board, just don't say anything silly lol. So outside of RBR, who's car do you find the most interesting going into quali?

From what we learned and what Mclaren are doing, they have a whole load of s*** coming their way, trust me. I think i know what they are looking at with their "1 second faster " quote, its the product of following their design and realising at the last minute that it sucks. We looked at it, we found out what they found out at Barcelona and we moved on.
