Australian Grand Prix 2011, Albert Park Circuit - Race 1/19

Frank we shall endeavour to win as many races as it requires to blugeon the opposition into submission, failing that we shall of course cheat!

I don't follow? The innovations I prefer to see don't break the rules, they work within the interpretation of the rules, there have been plenty of those..

Forgive me for not liking all the similarly dodgy innovations from Ferrari/MacLaren and all the other teams over the years.. But that's just me.

The roots of Formula 1 are truly set in teams that bend the rules as far as they can, every team that has ever achieved something in F1 has got there by there interpretation of the rule book.
If teams didn't do such things then we wouldn't have had the 6wheel Tyrrell, the fan car Brabham, the duel chassis lotus (The list could go on forever with Colin Chapman!)
This is what push's the sport, without it you may as well stick to single series races.

I think my neighbours below and above me may be about to complain - I couldnt stop myself laughing loudly when I read this - thank you for that :D

PS really glad to see you are back and able to stay (given stipulations you mentioned) - your insight is always enlightening and very welcome

I dont think this is true at all.

As Demon previously mentioned, there are areas in the rule book that are just not covered at all (like the double diffuser initially) and the F duct

This is the kind of invention that should always be allowed without question.

When the rule book states catagorically "part a should never be closer to the ground than x mm. FIA wil test this in manner described elsewhere". If said part is visibly closer to the ground than the distance stipulated - that should be an instant black flag for that car/team, until the part is changed. (or like the hidden options in the software of the Benetton from years ago)

Yes the FIA are pretty stupid - imo they dont need a test at all. If it can be proven photographically that this part of the car is flexing too much, thats the teams fault for not testing it thoroughly enough. Tough titties. Run a part that doesnt flex as much or be disqiualified

Just want to add - RB are playing by the rules the FIA have given them (by making them too complex).

Anyway - looks like we (in general) are stuck the way things are currently whether we like it or not :D

(for what little my opinion is worth lol)

So, just thought of this watching the Lotus go around, wasn't the court hearing supposed to be last week? I've been searching a few sites and haven't found a single thing about it, for some reason I was under the impression it was on the week before Melbourne?

I thought the new graphic looked quite nice actually, hopefully they show more onboard shots this year. Some of the directors last year were terrible to say the least.

Hmm, Webber to win at his home GP it is then? ;)

All making my FF1 harder - do I really put all my eggs in the RB basket? Cant see Vettel not dominating...

LOL @ Massas camera...

ps3ud0

Vettel's front wing is bending so much it's hitting the ground and breaking? :)

Also, HRT might aswell pull out last years car. They just did a timed lap, 17 seconds down on P1.

RBR clearly in a league of their own atm, beating everyone with the prime tyres in those practice runs. A second clear on the options!

Ferrari don't seem to be as fast as we all thought, McLaren may even be ahead of them?

Can't wait to see how it unfolds in Quali, although it seems the front row is booked already. :p
