Australian Grand Prix 2013, Melbourne - Race 1/19

Looking like it's going to be a pretty horrible first half of the year for McLaren at the moment.

Other than Hamilton having a bit of a gap, they're pretty close together behind the Red Bulls.

Looks like Hammy made a good team swap!

Very boring if Red Bull are just going to dominate this year though :(

Shame for McLaren as well. Car looks very slow : /

Ferrari look handy though

The race better be exciting and not one of those races we saw all to often last year, Vettel starting P1 and coasting to victory.

Hoping Hamilton or Alonso have monster starts and get close enough to that RB.

Didn't realise Hamilton out Qualy'd Rosberg by almost half a second! Impressive.

Shame Vettel was half a second faster than that

May I take this time to remind everyone the season ends in november. Not on Monday. Ty.

Massa is a bit like Button, he needs a good car for him to perform well.

Possible, to be honest I think there were two things, till 2/3rd's through last season he hadn't been near his pre injury form/ability. He turned it on after that but he seems to be very race specific, while he was driving better last year it was still, one race he'd a couple tenths up, another he'd be half a second down. To judge Massa vs Alonso needs a few more races, I suspect there will be 2-3 races he is just awesome and on par/ahead of ALonso, the others, Alonso ahead.

Hamilton, good show, not sure why people were so all over Rosberg being fast, we've seen it for a decade. The top 3-4 drivers don't push till the last laps of Q3, before they they are not cruising, but taking it easy, because anything else is pointless. Q3 Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Webber(I think like Massa he's a certain tracks suit him kinda guy), and occasionally Massa, just suddenly show the rest of the field up.

Button's time in Q3 was crap... I'm surprised, particularly with potential showers in the race, that no one tried the medium tyre in qualifying, especially Button. If it rains the bigger window for pitstops could be the difference between winning and being out of the points. The top guys on super softs WILL have to pit pretty damn early, if they pit say lap 8-10, and it rains lap 15, the guys on mediums will be making one stop and without the tyre deg, will likely be faster/all over the super soft guys anyway. No idea why the guys who didn't hope to come above 7th didn't try it.

People also should remember last season, Red Bulls more often than not sucked balls off the grid, while Mclaren often did better, and which cars were almost always the best off the grid..... I'll give you a clue, they picked up a better driver, improved the car, its German made ;)

Merc were AWESOME off the grid last year, really awesome, and are now starting nearer the front... don't count out Hamilton leading into the first corner, hell, don't count out Rosberg being in the top 3-4 by the first corner.

Last year? Do you mean 2011?

Hope this doesn't turn into another 2011 with redbulls miles ahead and Hamilton following behind. That was a seriously boring season
