Just listening to the FP1 commentary and (apologies if already mentioned) but it seems that vdG apparently paid 8million up front late last year for his seat - no wonder he's sore if he's not getting a drive. This would have helped Sauber a lot to pay the bills, and as it would have come from his sponsors, what happens to vdG if he doesn't get his seat? Do they take him to court?!
They're also saying that Sauber have refused to give him a paddock pass, and won't allow him in the motorhome!

I imagine this is why he's got such a strong legal presence. Hes probably being helped by his backers as they are affected by this too.
You would presume any out of court settlement will repay the upfront money paid, cover legal fees and pay damages. Sauber could be out many millions by the time this is over.

Yep, and I would imagine Sauber's sponsors won't be too impressed with this negative press either.

I feel for Ricciardo. The guy has talent but to lose an 25% of your engine usage before you've even completed a session. Thats a whole new level of bad luck
Maybe that's why they went out in P2. I'd like to see a bailiff confiscate a car while its on track
.They could come back in at the end of P3 and pull into an empty garage
He has to be faithful to Red Bull but I can see him jumping ship as soon as a top line seat is available. His talent now far outweighs the engine his team have to use.

You never know how good a driver is until they're in a not so good car. Just look what Alonso\Hamilton can do with one.

Agreed. A contract is a contract. Have to feel a little sorry for Monisha. She looked tired and drained in the press conference and the first race hasn't even started.
