Anyone else starting to turn on Lewis? Since he's turn into this 'evangelical' Hamilton, he really grinding my gears. But I was going to turn anyways now that Honda are back.
If you remove both drivers crashes and car failures, but leave in the unforced errors I honestly think it would be quite similar to the final result, simply because Rosberg lost what should have been 36 points in that final race which made the balance of poor reliability more or less equal. How far ahead do we think Hamilton would have been last year and this year if he didn't/doesnt have the setbacks.
I started taking a dislike to him in his first season once it started becoming apparent that he wasn't the goody-two-shoes that was being portrayed back then, around the time of the Monaco GP, where things apparently started turning sour behind the scenes. The PR around him was insanely good though - McLaren did an awesome job. Of course, that was all blown out of the water first with the various Hungaroring shenanigans (though to be fair he was less involved than some) and then most of the doubters were shown just how unsporting he could be in Melbourne in 2009.
He can be incredibly naive and childish at times, and I thought he did a good job of generally keeping a top on it last season, as normally those sort of moods linger with him and affects his form for a few races.
Don't get me wrong, I love watching Hamilton drive - he's undoubtedly one of the most naturally gifted drivers I've seen for a long time - I've just never liked the guy out of the car. Perhaps part of the reason is that he's so popular among the casual Brit F1 follower and the whole media phenomenon following him quickly bored me. The BBC still bend over backwards - every race headline where they could possibly include his name, does.
For some reason I couldn't care less what nationality a driver is. I support Brits in other sports, but in motor sport that's never been the case. Even watching Mansell as a 10 year old I think it was his dogged driving style more than anything (which is probably why I enjoy watching Alonso - he's got the same never-give-up attitude and determination).

Marc Priestley said that virtually the whole garage was glad to see the back of him when he left McLaren.
Quality driver but a petulant child. No one has ever told him no, really gone to his head.

Wouldn't be surprised if that is the name of his first rap album after leaving F1...
And on the subject of disliking him, I'm completely the opposite, don't care how he is out of the car I just want to see him do well in it!
Pretty sure every driver becomes a pain in the ass when they haven't got a winning car. Alonso didn't exactly leave Ferrari on good terms, and Vettel giving up at the start of the last season probably didn't do much for morale in the Red Bull garage.
In the end, it's the result that counts. No one cares if you're a nightmare as long as you're winning.
