Australian Grand Prix 2015, Melbourne - Race 1/19

Wtf, I thought sky said yesterday this was going to be aired later at 7.30, turned on tv to see arnold giving an interview

Well that result was what I predicted anyway, so nothing lost I guess.

Were there not a lot more safety car laps here last year? IT was last year CHilton hit bianchi and one of their cars, can't remember which, got scattered across the track? at the most fuel limited race of the year I think one of the major issues aside from lack of cars was... none of them went out in a way that had repeated safety cars which we usually get around Aussie. More safety cars would mean more fuel at the end for everyone, more pushing and the pack being bunched up several times.

So not surprising it turned out a bit of a turd.

Podium interviews are now the best thing ever.

Tend to agree, Arnie was way better than some of the "celebs" they've had do it and an order of magnitude better than Eddie ******* Jordan!

You only had to listen to the crowd chanting "Arnie! Arnie!". Have two friends there and they said the atmosphere was amazing.

Did have to laugh at how his questioning was how did it feel to finish where you finished.... and what's your work out routine? ... well effectively :p

Have to agree with the earlier comments about Damon, whoever it was that made them.

He's hopeless in front of the camera. Keeps stuttering, repeating words, umming and ahhing and then only states the blinding obvious, offering no real insight at all.

On a similar note, what on earth was Jolyon Palmer doing commentating on the practice sessions? He's got no F1 experience at all and presume he's never even driven the circuit as it's an F1-only track I believe? Give us someone who's actually driven an F1 race or has circuit knowledge to offer the "expert" opinion.

Hmm, not the most exciting of races

- Magnusson, superb engine explosion. When was the last time we saw an engine spill its guts on the track?
- Button - must be thrilled to get to the end, but probably relieved that Manor weren't racing.
- Mercedes - 32 seconds clear? And no racing between them? Good lord :(
- Ferrari - Mixed for them, happy for Vettle though and Kimi = lol
- Sauber - Great result for them
- Red Bull - Miles away, that's a shame.
- Lotus - Oh dear oh dear. Had to be Pastor that binned it, could he have given a bit more space?

I hope we get something more exciting happening. Maybe time to try a 'random safety car generator'.

Other observations:
- Drivers comms were almost impossible to hear. Last year they were incredible clear, what's happened here?
- Timing display. Much better. Finally they can display the gaps between drivers at the back, rather than last years '+1 lap' nonsense.
- Arnie, great! He should be there every weekend!

Boullier suggested McLaren are going to change tack and crank the engine up and the deal with whatever problems it throws up rather than the current method of plodding around and tinkering at the edges.

Seems he may have been reading what some of us have been suggesting. :D
