So you have been watching a different season.
Other than Baku, Hamilton (and a few other drivers) have been head an shoulders above Rosberg. He's being carried by the performance of the car.
What's Rosbergs net places gained/lost this seaaon?
Couldn't tell you of the top of my head what Nico has gained and lost but typically he hadn't lost many as qualifies high and starts well. Lewis' starts SVs been abysmal this season
Rosberg has just driven. Yes Lewis and Sebastian have had the issues this season which have been beyond their control but Lewis had hardly been stellar.
Judging from the races we've had this season do you honestly and genuinely think Lewis deserves to be 1st?
I'm saying this all as a Hamilton fan. I literally can't stand Smug Rosberg who achieved very little before this Mercedes force to be reckoned with. But that doesn't mean I can't feel Rosberg has been doing 'enough' to win the WDC. I don't think he is a better driver by any stretch of imagination
Great lap from Lewis there tho
Perspective though. Lewis has started further back far more often than Nico has this season. So of course he will have gained more positions?
Great strategy call by Ferrari. Should spice it up a bit tomorrow.
Indeed.
But then apply perspective to the reasons why Lewis has started further back. It's been (almost always) due to bad luck and reliability.
In every race Rosberg has been challenged, he's lost out. Monaco is the perfect example of Rosbergs ability. On the most difficult track in the most difficult conditions where drivers skill rises to the top Rosberg managed to lose 6 places, including being told to get out of Hamiltons way because he was 2 seconds slower, and managed to be overtaken by a Force India on a track ita meant to be impossible to overtake on.
Rosberg is crap. The Mercedes is so dominant that anyone could be winning in it if they were entirely unchallenged.
Nico usually always comes of second best when he's challenged. Hell, he doesn't even need proper pressure on him for him to choke. But this season whilst things have fallen into his lap quite fortunately I think it's unfair on him to suggest he hasn't been driving well. He had a shocker at Monaco and that only highlights what you, I and everyone else already knew about him, he's not in that top echelon as Lewis, Sebastian and Fernando. I'd put him just behind Jenson but ahead of Felipe Massa.
I don't want it to sound like I think Nico is suddenly a champion level driver - he's not. He has always been 'fast' since his Williams days but being fast doesn't make you a good racer. But he could very well end up being one this year just by being consistent.
