Merc killed the race for hammy If they pitted him like everyone else he wouldn't have been thrashing his car as much or killing his tyres which I would say he wouldn't have had a DNF.

Na, he was clearly having issues from just after he pitted. He complained of random losses of power and if you watched his times he was kangarooing between being half a second and a few seconds off who he was chasing. Vettel got him far too easily as well.

Then he was on brand new supersofts vs 50 lap old softs and started to lose time against Vettel.

Merc have said it was a loss of fuel pressure too which might explain things.

It must be frustrating for Ricciardo. He's comfortable beaten Max over two seasons, and has been beating him this season, but Red Bull constantly act like Max is their Golden boy. Even when Max managed to wreck both their races in Azerbaijan, where Daniel was clearly faster, Red Bull acted as if it was both drivers at fault. Difficult to succeed in a team biased towards the other driver.

Comfortably? Are you nuts? His first season he started after 4 races, had no preseason, won his first race but took time to gel with the team. Ricciardo was in his what, 3rd year with the team in a car that hadn't changed much.

After 10 races Verstappen started to match him in qualifying, in the final 6 races of the season he beat Ricciardo 4-2 in qualifying, last year he beat Ricciardo comfortably in qualifying and lost significantly more points from leading positions than ricciardo did. That is, he had car failures and things when ahead of Ricciardo which also gave Ricciardo more points than the other way around. Ricciardo also has had a huge amount of luck in terms of when Mercs have had problems and he's been there to get a win.

Lastly, Verstappen has comfortably better race pace, he's been faster in the majority of races this year, sure he's had issues but every driver has these now and then. He was ahead in China before the safety car, he trashed Ricciardo's pace in Spain, he was 8-9 seconds ahead before Ricciardo's wing broke last week, he managed to make his tires last and was pulling a gap on Ricciardo while he burned his tires up and had to pit again. before the failure Ricciardo was what, ~30 seconds behind Max.

People keep saying he was clearly faster in Baku and I think it's freaking hilarious, in a track in which DRS works great and is worth a half second minimum down the straight Ricciardo spent a couple dozen laps unable to pass Verstappen? A faster car that cant' pass in Baku with DRS advantage? In every way Ricciardo looked like DRS was at best the only difference between them but in reality if they had the same pace and he had DRS he would have passed easily, he lost time repeatedly over the lap then gained it back under DRS.... if anything he was very likely slightly slower and it's very likely that Max would have passed him back again under DRS very easily.

Sebastian never recovered from the penalty which ruined his entire weekend. I would hope he wises up and from now on doesn't collect more of those... :o

China - failure; Azerbaijan - failure; France - even more failure; Austria - again failure..
45% of the season so far - failures..
